Molding compositions are prepared from blends of (A) a thermoplastic copolyetherester elastomer; (B) a styrene maleic anhydride polymer; and (C) an ABS or MBS polymer. Component B, the styrene maleic anhydride polymer may optionally contain a termonomer such as methylmethacrylate or acrylonitrile and a rubber component.

Polyblends of thermoplastic copolyetheresters styrene-maleic anhydride

Molding compositions are prepared from blends of (A) a thermoplastic copolyetherester elastomer; (B) a styrene maleic anhydride polymer; (C) an ABS or MBS polymer; and (D) a nitrile rubber. Component B, the styrene maleic anhydride polymer may optionally contain a termonomer such as methyl-methacrylate or acrylonitrile and a rubber component.

Polyblends of thermoplastic copolyetheresters, styrene-maleic anhydride

The tendency to crosslink of polymer compositions comprising polymer units derived from acrylonitrile and maleic anhydride is controlled by the use of boron compounds selected from boron oxide, boron acids and esters of boron acids.

Thermally stabilized polymers

The tendency to crosslink of polymer compositions comprising polymer units derived from acrylonitrile and maleic anhydride is controlled by the use of an acid ester of a phosphorus acid.

Heat stabilized polymers

Styrene/maleic anhydride copolymers and their polyblends can be plasticized using an ester of an aromatic carboxylic acid, which may be halogenated, and a C.sub.10 to C.sub.24 alkyl alcohol having a melting point of at least 50.degree. C.

Styrenic polymer additive

Styrene/maleic anhydride polymers can be made more resistant to combustion by incorporation therein of minor amounts of polyvinyl chloride. The compositions can also comprise MBS, ABS and other flame retardant additives.

Flame-retardant polymers

Rubber modified copolymers of styrene and maleic anhydride can be blended with polyvinyl chloride and optional impact modifiers to produce compositions with advantageous properties.

Polyblends of PVC and styrene-maleic anhydride-rubber copolymers

A tetrapolymer of .alpha.-methylstyrene, styrene, maleic anhydride and acrylonitrile is prepared by mass/suspension batch process without the need for staged late addition of monomers. The tetrapolymer is useful as a replacement for SAN as diluent in the preparation of ABS-type polymers.
