Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to detect malware based on network traffic analysis. An example apparatus includes a classification controller to: in response to a first classification score of a first network traffic sample satisfying a first threshold, determine whether a second classification score of a second network traffic sample satisfies a second threshold; and in response to the second classification score of the second network traffic sample satisfying the second threshold, classify network traffic associated with the first network traffic sample and the second network traffic sample as potentially malicious network traffic; and a remediation controller to, in response to the network traffic being classified as the potentially malicious network traffic, execute a remediation action to remediate malicious activity associated with the potentially malicious network traffic.

There is disclosed in one example an advertisement reputation server, including: a hardware platform including a processor and a memory; a network interface; and an advertisement reputation engine including instructions encoded in memory to instruct the processor to: receive via the network interface a plurality of advertisement instances displayed on client devices; extract from the advertisement instances an advertiser identifier; analyze one or more advertisements associated with the advertiser identifier to assign an advertiser reputation; and publish via the network interface advertisement reputation information derived from the reputation for the advertisement identifier.

Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that can be configured to identify a binary file, identify strings in the binary file, determine that at least one string in the binary file is larger than one kilobytes of data, identify at least one substring from each of the at least one strings in the binary file is larger than one kilobytes of data, and analyze each of the at least one substrings to determine if each of the at least one substrings are suspicious and related to malware.
