A system and method for extending a slotted liner shoe is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a low density material is injected into a liner having a plurality of openings. The liner is suspended below a cemented casing in a wellbore of a well in a subterranean formation. The low density material extrudes through a lower portion of the liner into an annulus between the liner and the wellbore. A cement is circulated into the liner above the low density material. The cement extrudes through an upper portion of the liner into the annulus between the liner and the wellbore. Water is displaced from the wellbore, and a solid cemented casing string is formed at a desired depth.

System and method for a slotted liner shoe extension

Systems and methods can include maximizing energy recovery from a subterranean formation. According to one embodiment, a selected subterranean open-hole interval is isolated and at least one fracture is stimulated in the isolated subterranean open-hole interval.

Enhanced geothermal systems and reservoir optimization

Systems, methods and compositions for temporary sealing fractures in subterranean formations employ at least one constituent for temporary sealing a fracture in a subterranean well. The degradation kinetics of the composition is dependent upon at least one degradation temperature-time parameter for designating a temperature range and a time at which the composition degrades.

Temporary fluid diversion agents for use in geothermal well applications

A method can include introducing a particulate diverting agent into a first fracture within an underground reservoir formation. The particulate diverting agent can at least partially hydraulically isolate the first fracture. The particulate diverting agent can also be a temporary material which substantially degrades over an extended time. The underground reservoir formation can be stimulated with a stimulation fluid sufficient to expand a second fracture within the underground reservoir formation. The particulate diverting agent can then be allowed to substantially degrade.

An alkaline-earth carbonate precipitate is formed from the decomposition of a carbonyl compound. The sealing agent includes the carbonyl compound and an alkaline-earth halide salt.

A method of selectively blocking fractures in a subterranean formation by injecting a diversion agent into the well is disclosed. According to one embodiment, the method comprises injecting a diversion agent into a subterranean formation to form an alkaline-earth carbonate precipitate from decomposition of a carbonyl compound, wherein the diversion agent includes the carbonyl compound and an alkaline-earth halide salt.

A method of servicing a wellbore comprising preparing a liquid plug, allowing the liquid plug to polymerize into a highly deformable elastic plug, combining the highly deformable elastic plug with at least one conventional plug to form plug combination, and placing the plug combination into a wellbore. A method of servicing a wellbore comprising preparing a liquid plug, allowing the liquid plug to polymerize into a highly deformable elastic plug, placing the highly deformable elastic plug into a wellbore, and deforming the highly deformable elastic plug.

Method to control the physical interface between two or more fluids

A method of servicing a wellbore comprising contacting a metal oxide, a soluble chloride or phosphate salt, water, and a liquid retarder to form a cement composition via a continuous process, wherein the liquid retarder is an aqueous solution having a concentration of less than about 25 w/v %, placing the cement composition into the wellbore, and allowing the cement composition to set. A method of servicing a wellbore comprising (a) contacting an aqueous solution with a soluble salt to form a salt solution, (b) contacting an aqueous solution with a solid retarder to form a liquid retarder wherein the liquid retarder has concentration of less than about 25 w/v %, (c) contacting water, the salt solution, and the liquid retarder to form a mixture, (d) contacting the mixture with a metal oxide to form a cement slurry, wherein the cement slurry is produced with an output rate of from about 0.5 barrels per minute to about 20 barrels per minute, (e) placing the cement slurry into the wellbore, and (f) allowing the cement slurry to set.

Sorel cements and methods of making and using same

Methods for performing cementing operations in a wellbore, designing wells and constructing wells are illustrated. The methods include applying pressure to the interior of casing in the wellbore during curing of a cement composition in the annulus. Wells constructed with such an applied pressure on casing have cement sheaths that will subsequently withstand stress.

Method for designing and constructing a well with enhanced durability
