A surgical microscope includes an optical assembly to image an object plane with a microscope main objective system, through which a first stereoscopic partial beam path with a first optical axis and a second stereoscopic partial beam path with a second optical axis pass. An illumination device includes a light source assembly to provide illumination light in a luminous plane, with a radiant field stop, and an illumination optical unit which at least partially images a luminous object arranged in the luminous plane in the illumination beam path into a luminous image plane located in the microscope main objective system or for the vertical distance z of which from the microscope main objective system on the side facing the object region or the side facing away from the object region, in relation to a focal length f of the microscope main objective system, the following applies: z/f<10%.

A surgical microscope for generating an image of an object region includes an eyepiece and an objective conjointly defining a viewing beam path, an image capturing device and a beam path switching device for out-coupling image information. The switching device is switchable between a first switching state wherein light in the viewing beam path is split into a first component along a first beam path to the eyepiece at an intensity ITand a second component along a second beam path to the image capturing device at an intensity ITand a second switching state wherein the light in the viewing beam path is deflected into the second beam path to the image capturing device at an intensity IU. The switching device includes a beam splitter movable in and out of the viewing beam path and a deflecting element movable into and out of the viewing beam path.

A stand for a surgical microscope includes a digiscope and an imaging unit which are interconnected and mounted on an arm of the stand at a joint rotatably about an axis of rotation. The digiscope and the imaging unit are arranged on a bridge such that a fixed spatial relationship, in particular a distance larger than zero between the digiscope and the imaging unit during a relative movement between the digiscope and the patient is maintained. A method for configuring a stand with a bridge includes determining distances between eyes of a surgeon and the imaging unit, between the surgeon and an operating field, between the receptacle of the digiscope and the operating field, and between the imaging unit and the receptacle of the digiscope, and determining a length of the bridge to optimally set a distance from the surgeon to the patient and the imaging unit for the surgeon.

A mount for an optical apparatus having an image recording unit and an image rendering unit includes a first securing device for the recording unit, a second securing device for the rendering unit, and a connecting rail interconnecting the securing devices. The connecting rail is arranged so as to be displaceable in the y-direction in relation to the second securing device via a linear actuator. The first securing device includes a rotation device arranged so as to be rotatable about an axis of rotation extending in the x-direction. The mount includes a controller which is configured to displace the connecting rail in the y-direction in relation to the second securing device via the actuator when the first securing device is rotated about the tilt axis such that the distance between the focal point and the second securing device is kept constant within a certain interval.

An input coupling module selectively couples a beam path into a first or second stereoscopic component beam in a surgical microscope having an optical interface for guiding a beam path to be coupled-in. The input coupling module has a first beam splitter arranged in the first component beam and a second beam splitter arranged in the second component beam. The input coupling module contains an adjustable optics assembly, which selectively guides a beam path provided at the optical interface for coupling into the first or second component beam to the first beam splitter or the second beam splitter. The adjustable optics assembly includes an optical element displaceable by a linear movement from a first position to a second, position, and vice versa, for switching the beam path. The displaceable optical element is arranged in the beam path to be coupled-in in the first position and/or the second position.

An illumination device for an optical viewing apparatus defines an illumination beam path and includes an illumination light source having mutually independently controllable individual light sources arranged in a first plane in a two-dimensional array. The illumination device defines an illumination beam path and includes illumination optics defining an optical axis. The illumination optics form a second plane conjugated with respect to the first plane. A diaphragm unit is arranged in the second plane. The diaphragm unit has a plurality of apertures and the apertures are assigned to corresponding ones of the individual light sources.

Disclosed are an illumination device for an observation device comprising one, two or more observation beam paths with one respective beam of observation rays, especially for an ophthalmologic surgical microscope, and a corresponding observation device. Said illumination device is provided with at least one light source for generating at least one beam of observation rays in order to illuminate an object that is to be observed. According to one embodiment of the invention, at least two partial bundles of illumination rays are provided, each of which extends coaxial to a corresponding beam of observation rays, while the partial beams of illumination rays are embodied so as to form two or several illumination spots on the fundus of an object that is to be observed, e.g. an eye, said illumination spots having variable sizes, thus allowing the illumination beam to cooperate in a precisely defined manner with the observation beam paths, which makes it possible to meet especially the practical requirements regarding homogeneity of the red reflex.
