A network discovery method includes: sending, by a master node in a logical root hierarchy level of a data network, a discovery message including a forwarding counter to a first slave node in the data network first logical hierarchy level via a child port; increasing, by the first neighboring slave node, the forwarding counter; forwarding the discovery message with the increased forwarding counter to a second slave node in the first logical hierarchy level; receiving, by the first and second slave nodes, context information from the master node regarding the identities of the master node and the child port; determining, by the first and second slave nodes, its own functional designation based on the forwarding counter and the received context information by comparison with a mapping table; and updating the mapping table by matching the recorded functional designation in the mapping table with the first and slave node identities.

Network discovery method

An avionics network including a plurality of avionics components and a configuration monitoring device, which is connected by wire or wirelessly to the plurality of avionics components. The configuration monitoring device has at least one configuration data interface configured to receive a plurality of configuration parameters characterizing the operating status of the avionics components. The configuration monitoring device further includes a parameter filtering device connected to the configuration data interface and configured to filter a subset of the configuration parameters received. The configuration monitoring device additionally includes reference parameter storage, configured to store sets of reference values for configuration parameters, and a parameter comparison device, coupled to the reference parameter storage and the parameter filtering device, and configured to compare the subset of configuration parameters received and filtered by the parameter filtering device with a set of reference values for the configuration parameters stored in the reference parameter storage.

Configuration management for avionics network, and method for checking the configuration of an avionics network

A multimedia distribution network, useful on board a passenger aircraft, includes a first network node configured as a head controller, a plurality of second network nodes configured as intermediate controllers connected to the first network node, and a plurality of third network nodes configured as end device controllers, each connected to one of the second network nodes. The head controller is configured to transmit a multicast stream of multimedia control signal packets to control the end device controllers to the intermediate controllers. The intermediate controllers are configured to periodically transmit unicast delay queries to the head controller, to process the received multimedia control signal packets to the end device controllers and to distribute processed multimedia control signal packets with a controllable delay based on the content of unicast delay indicator signals sent by the head controller to the intermediate controllers in response to the unicast delay queries.

Onboard multimedia distribution network for an aircraft and method for distributing multimedia content on board of an aircraft

An on-board computing system for an aircraft. The computing system comprises a plurality of partitions each including at least one software component configured to perform a function related to the aircraft, wherein software components of different partitions of the plurality of partitions are configured to exchange data via a communication hub of the computing system, the communication hub being configured to store data items exported by exporting software components of the plurality of partitions and to provide the stored data items to reading software components of the plurality of partitions.

On-board computing system for an aircraft

A network for an aircraft including a data line and network access devices, a first interface and at least one second interface and connected to the data line via the first interface. Identifiers are assigned to the second interfaces in pairs. The access devices receive and/or transmit data in first data frames having a fixed format and first portion and second portions. The network access devices transmit second data frames and, for each second interface, a sequence of third data frames received on the second interfaces, the network access device including a first processing unit to insert the second data frames in the first portion of the first data frames, split each third data frame into fragment frames, including a part of the respective third data frame and reassembly information allowing regeneration of the third data frame from the fragment frames, and insert the fragment frames into the second portions.

A network for an aircraft including a master device and slave devices connected in daisy-chain arrangement series. Each slave device has a unique identifier. The master transmits polling data packets along the slave devices, each including only one identifier. Polling data packets are transmitted in successive sequences, each including for each slave device only one polling data packet and including the polling data packets in a predetermined order. Each slave device includes a first data interface for connection in an upstream direction, a second data interface for connection in the downstream direction, and a processing unit to compare for each received polling data packet the identifier thereof with the identifier of the respective slave device, and output a response data packet to the master device if the two identifiers match, and forward the polling data packet to the second interface at least if the two identifiers do not match.

The invention relates to a control device for controlling a plurality of network nodes of a computer network, comprising a master computing means for controlling the network nodes in accordance with a program, which master computing means assigns at least one program to each network node, comprising a control logic which is configured to group the network nodes in accordance with the programs assigned to these network nodes in each case and to transmit the same program in parallel to those network nodes of the same group which have been assigned this same program by the master computing means. The invention further relates to a method for operating a computer network and to a computer network.
