Disclosed are methods of treating, inhibiting, or preventing the development of, a food allergy in a patient by administering a therapeutically effective amount of a thiol isomerase inhibitor to a patient in need thereof. Also disclosed are methods for treatment of other allergic diseases and inflammatory diseases.

Thiol isomerases inhibitors for the treatment and prevention of food allergies, allergic diseases, and inflammatory diseases

Disclosed herein is a method of administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an extracellular thiol isomerase inhibitor compound to treat or prevent a disease or condition influenced by the activity of one or more extracellular thiol isomerases (e.g. protein disulfide isomerase, ERp5, ERp57, ERp72 and thioredoxin). The disease or condition includes arterial thrombosis, venous thrombosis, a thrombotic disease, a cancer, an infectious disease, a viral disease, an immune disorder, inflammation, a neurologic disease, and a neurodegenerative disorder.

Thiol isomerases inhibitors and use thereof

Acoustophoretic devices are disclosed. The devices include a flow chamber, an ultrasonic transducer, a reflector, an inlet, a filtrate outlet, a concentrate outlet, and optionally a lipid collection trap. The ultrasonic transducer and reflector create a multi-dimensional acoustic standing wave in the flow chamber that traps and separates red blood cells and/or lipids from blood. Concentrated red blood cells can be recovered via the concentrate outlet, the lipids can be recovered via the lipid collection trap, and the remaining blood can be recovered via the filtrate outlet. Methods for separating blood components (e.g., red blood cells, lipids, platelets, white blood cells) from blood are also disclosed. The red blood cells can undergo washing with a solvent to remove undesired admixtures. Cryoprotectants can be added or removed from the blood.

Acoustic blood separation processes and devices

A system for removing lipids from blood during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery is disclosed. The system uses an acoustophoretic separator having improved trapping force. The transducer of the acoustophoretic seperator includes a ceramic crystal. Blood flows through the separator, and lipids are trapped and removed.
