An erosion control apparatus includes a flexible, container and a cord. The container includes a container upper side, a container lower side opposite the container upper side, a container trailing end, a container leading end opposite the container trailing end, and a container mouth toward the container leading end. The container mouth provides an opening to a container interior. The cord is attached between the container mouth and an attachment point toward the container trailing end. The cord draws the container mouth toward the container trailing end due to a length of the cord between the container mouth and the attachment point being shorter than a length of the container between the container mouth and the attachment point. The cord further draws the container mouth toward a closed position as sediment enters the container mouth, fills the container interior, and urges the container leading end away from the attachment point.

Self-filling erosion control apparatus

A retractor system includes a mounting assembly, an articulated arm coupled to the mounting assembly, a retractor connector coupled to the articulated arm, and a handle. The articulated arm includes arm segments and joints that permit articulation of the arm segments. The retractor connector includes an attachment port adapted to receive an attachment post of a retractor blade. A handle mount includes a tab and a pedestal that affixes the tab to an arm segment of the articulated arm. The handle includes an attachment portion and a rod. The attachment portion includes a slot configured to receive the tab of the handle mount. The rod engages the tab of the handle mount and secures the handle to the handle mount when advanced through the attachment portion and into the slot.

A retractor system includes a retractor blade and a retractor arm having a side-load connector. The side-load connector includes a port that passes through an upper surface and a lower surface of the side-load connector. A sidewall opening in the side-load connector permits lateral passage of the attachment post through a sidewall to the port. The side-load connector includes a cam pivotably coupled between the lower surface and the upper surface and a spring that applies a biasing force on the cam. The biasing force biases the cam to a closed position in which the cam extends into the opening and prevents unloading the attachment post from the port via the opening. The cam selectively engages either a first groove or a second groove of the attachment post sidewall. The side-load connector further includes teeth that engage teeth of the retractor body when the cam engages the first groove.

A low resistance generator includes a series of stator plates and rotors. Stator plates include the coils wrapped around coil spools. The stator plates and coil spools are made from non-conductive and non-ferromagnetic material. The coils are exposed to the surrounding air and cooled convectively by airflow caused by a rotation of the rotors in the gaps. Rotors house magnets and are disposed within gaps between the stator plates. The rotors are also made of non-conductive and non-ferromagnetic materials. The magnets may be disposed on the rotors to form columns. Two columns of magnets are joined together to form one or more closed magnetic loops, each column being joined by a gauss bridge disposed at first and second end rotors.

A bone graft system for providing bone graft material to a site of interest includes a multiple unit bone graft material loading device and a conduit. The multiple unit bone graft material loading device may be configured to accept a plurality of pre-formed bone graft material units and includes a plurality chambers configured to accept a pre-formed bone graft unit. The conduit may include a first opening and second opening. The first opening may be operably connected with the multiple unit bone graft material loading device to accept bone graft material from the multiple unit bone graft material loading device. The second opening may be configured to deliver bone graft material to a site of interest.

Methods and systems for interbody implant and bone graft delivery

A retractor system includes a retractor blade that is securable to a portion of a patient's anatomy during a surgical procedure. The retractor system includes a manipulator that is releasably securable to the retractor blade for positioning and securing the retractor blade. The retractor system includes a flexible securement arm that movably secures the retractor blade to a frame, wherein a proximal end of the retractor blade is non-rigidly constrained. The securement arm is secured to the retractor blade proximate to one end of the securement arm, and is secured to a retractor frame proximate to another end of the securement arm.

Retractor system for anterior cervical spine surgery

A retractor system includes a frame and first and second retractor blades. The frame includes first and second securement features. At least one of the first and second securement features is movable with respect to the frame when the at least one of the first and second securement features is mounted to the frame. The first and second retractor blades each have a distal portion and a proximal portion. The proximal portions of the first and second retractor blades are configured to be secured proximate to the first and second securement features respectively, such that the first and second retractor blades may be positioned in a first position wherein the first and second retractor blades are laterally opposed. A movement of the at least one securement feature that is movable with respect to the frame adjusts the angle of at least one of the retractor blades, wherein the at least one of the retractor blades may be adjusted between a first angle less than 90 degrees to horizontal and second angle greater than 90 degrees to horizontal.

Posterior lumbar retractor system

A retractor system includes a frame and first and second retractor blades. The frame includes first and second securement features. At least one of the first and second securement features is movable with respect to the frame when the first and second securement features is mounted to the frame. Proximal portions of the first and second refractor blades are secured proximate the first and second securement features respectively. In a first position the first and second refractor blades are laterally opposed. Movement of the securement feature adjusts the angle of at least one of the retractor blades so that at least one of the retractor blades may be adjusted between an acute angle and an obtuse angle to horizontal.

A spacer for implantation between adjacent vertebrae is provided. The spacer includes a distal end and a proximal end. The spacer also includes top and bottom surfaces spaced by sides. The top and bottom surface define a height, and the sides define a width. Each of the sides of the spacer may include a depressed region sunk into the side including a sloped surface at least toward the proximal end of the spacer. The distance between the sloped surfaces of the sides may decrease proximally to form a web having a leading edge proximate to the proximal end of the spacer. The web may be sized and configured to aid distribution of bone graft material to either side of the spacer, wherein bone graft material is supplied to a site of interest is distributed to at least one side of the spacer.

A retractor clamp is provided for a low profile retractor system including a spreader including first and second arms joined by a cross-bar. The first and second arms define an arm level. The refractor clamp includes a gripping assembly, a main body, an extension arm, a retractor blade arm, and a securement assembly. The refractor clamp is movably and securably joined along the at least one of the first arm, second arm, and cross-bar at substantially the arm level. The refractor blade arm is joined to the main body by the extension arm, and is positioned at a refractor blade arm level above the arm level. The refractor blade arm accepts a blade clamp. The securement assembly includes an adjustment member accessible by an operator substantially at the arm level. The securement assembly is operatively connected to the gripping assembly.

Low profile surgical retractor

A bone collection system includes a plunger, a tube, and a manifold. The plunger has a bore therethrough, an insertion portion, and an inlet that accepts material being harvested from a patient. The insertion portion includes a filter to prevent passage of bone fragments. The tube accepts the insertion portion, defining a first and a second chamber of the tube. The filter separates the first and second chambers of the tube. The manifold is accepted by the tube, and has an outlet accepted by a suction source. The inlet of the plunger is in fluid communication with the first chamber, the first and second chambers are in fluid communication through the filter, and the second chamber is in fluid communication with the outlet. Material being harvested is drawn through the bone collection system, and bone fragments of the desired size collected in the first chamber.

Bone collection system

A method of positioning a device for pedicle access includes securing a clip in an adjustable frame assembly and securing the device in the clip. The method also includes positioning the device at an initial position having a trajectory estimated to allow the device to penetrate a pedicle without damaging the nervous system, and determining whether the trajectory of the initial position is proper to avoid damage. Further, the method includes re-positioning the device to a new position if the trajectory of the initial position is not proper to avoid damage to the nervous system, and determining whether the trajectory of the new position is proper to avoid damage. The method also includes repeating the steps of re-positioning the device and determining whether the trajectory of the new position is proper as required until a proper trajectory is obtained.

Methods and systems for pedicle access

The present invention relates to an apparatus for adapting a non-cylindrical serrated surgical retractor blade handle to the cylindrical bore of a universal joint. The apparatus includes an adaptor housing having a retractor handle passageway, at least a portion of the retractor handle passageway being configured to receive the slideable insertion of a non-cylindrical retractor blade handle. The adaptor housing is configured for rotational insertion into the cylindrical bore of a clamping member, thereby allowing the adaptor housing, the non-cylindrical retractor blade handle, and an attached retractor blade, to rotate about the longitudinal axis of the non-cylindrical retractor blade handle. In the illustrated embodiment, a pawl mechanism is connected to the adaptor housing and configured for automatic engagement with at least one of a plurality of serrations that are located on the non-cylindrical retractor blade handle, thereby allowing for the efficient adjustment and automatic locking of the linear position of the non-cylindrical retractor blade handle relative to the operative site.
