A spray system includes a spray applicator configured to apply a fluid to a target. The spray system also includes a rotary bell cup of the spray applicator, a splash plate of the spray applicator coupled to the rotary bell cup, and a fluid tip of the spray applicator. The fluid tip is configured to output the fluid onto the rotary bell cup. The fluid tip includes a fluid tip passage extending along a longitudinal fluid tip axis of the fluid tip. The longitudinal fluid tip axis intersects with the splash plate of the spray applicator. The fluid tip also includes a fluid exit port configured to output the fluid from the fluid tip passage onto the rotary bell cup. The fluid exit port extends along a fluid exit axis disposed at an angle relative to the longitudinal fluid tip axis of the fluid tip.

A system including an electrostatic tool including a handle, a first trigger configured to move between a first trigger position and a second trigger position, wherein the electrostatic tool is configured to be inactive when the first trigger is in the first trigger position and to spray a coating material when the first trigger is in the second trigger position, an electrostatic activation system configured to activate and deactivate electrical charging of the coating material, and wherein the first trigger and the electrostatics activation system may be separately and simultaneously engaged with a single hand.

A system includes an air cap configured to mount to a head of a spray device, wherein the air cap comprises at least one air passage having a curved flow path. A system may include a spray head having a first curved air passage that turns inwardly toward a central axis of the spray head, and a second curved air passage that turns inwardly toward the central axis of the spray head, wherein the first and second curved air passage are configured to direct first and second air flows inwardly toward a spray to shape the spray. A system may include a spray device having a liquid passage leading to a liquid outlet, and a curved air passage that gradually curves toward an air outlet.

In accordance with one embodiment a system is provided that includes an aerosol spray can, a receiver configured to electrically insulate the commercially available aerosol spray can, and a nozzle headpiece configured to couple to a neck portion of the aerosol spray can. Further, the nozzle headpiece is configured to electrostatically charge the aerosol spray can, and the nozzle headpiece includes an electrostatically charged passage.

Electrostatic spray system and method

A system, in certain embodiments, includes a spray device including a frame having a receptacle configured to receive a self-contained spray can. The spray device further includes a first conductive element configured to contact the self-contained spray can, and a first electrical conductor extending between the first conductive element and an earth ground such that a first electrical potential of the self-contained spray can is substantially equal to a second electrical potential of the earth ground while the self-contained spray can is in contact with the first conductive element. The spray device also includes a corona-charging electrode positioned adjacent to a spray nozzle of the self-contained spray can. The corona-charging electrode is configured to emit a stream of ions toward the self-contained spray can such that a spray of fluid from the spray nozzle passes through the stream of ions and becomes electrostatically charged.
