A cover for use in protecting a resected surface of a long bone for use in joint arthroplasty includes a body, a plurality of independently moveable members moveably attached to the body, two of the plurality of independently movable members configured to move linearly with respect to the body along a first plane and along a first axis, the body and the plurality of independently moveable members defining a first periphery of the cover along the first plane in one configuration which is smaller than, and encompassed by, a second periphery of the cover along the first plane in a second configuration, and a lip fixedly extending downwardly along an outer radial periphery of one of the body and the plurality of independently moveable members in a direction not co-planar with the first plane.

Osteotomy protective cover

A cover for use in protecting a resected surface of a long bone for use in joint arthroplasty is provided. The cover includes a generally planar portion having opposed generally parallel first and second surfaces defining a periphery extending from the first surface and the second surface. The cover also includes a lip extending from the first surface at the periphery of the planar portion in a direction not planar with the generally planar portion.

Method of using an osteotomy protective cover

A kit for use in performing a trail reduction in joint arthroplasty is provided. The kit includes a trail stem assembly including a first component, a second component selectably moveable with respect to the first component, and a fastener for securing the first component to the second component. The kit also includes an articulating trial component removeably fixedly secured to the trail stem assembly and a driver for cooperation with the fastener to secure the first component to the second component. The kit also includes a handle. The handle has a first feature for permitting the driver to pass through the handle and a second feature for orientably connecting the handle to the articulating trial component.
