A substantially cylindrical drainage unit for use when buried in soil as part of a wastewater leach field comprises a first plastic aggregate mass that is contained within netting, with an optional central perforated pipe. A segmented quilt comprises the exterior surface of the drainage unit which is in contact with soil. Pebble aggregate that is smaller in particle size than the first aggregate is contained with the cavities of the quilt segments. Quilts having different segment shapes and sizes are manufactured by specialized apparatus which creates rectilinear or serpentine seams.

A substantially cylindrical drainage unit for use when buried in soil as part of a wastewater leach field comprises a first plastic bead aggregate mass, optionally with a central perforated pipe, surrounded by a segmented-quilt exterior surface. Quilts are captured around the drainage unit by straps, a circumscribing netting sleeve, or by being themselves in the form of tubular sleeves. Preferred rectangular quilt segments contain a second pebble aggregate that is smaller than the first aggregate. Quilts are fabricated by mating two layers of geotextile and inserting the second aggregate into channels or cavities that are defined by seams that join the layers to each other.

An arch shape cross section thermoplastic leaching chamber, having sidewall slot perforations which flare inwardly, is made using a mold comprised of a mold cavity part and an inwardly retractable mold core part. The core part has opposing side slides with projections that define the perforations; they are separated by a center block. The center block moves downwardly and the slides move inwardly, under action of slide rods built into the mold core, to enable a molded chamber to be removed from the mold.

A leaching chamber has sidewall perforations which flare inwardly, so that the smallest perforation dimension is on the exterior surface of the sidewall. The basic axes of the perforations run downwardly toward the chamber base, as the axes run from the inside to outside of the chamber. Mold cores having inwardly retracting slides, and which move in complex ways, are used to form the chamber. Thus, perforations are present down near the base flange of the sidewall, even though the base flange has an upwardly extending fin.

A continuous curve arch shape cross section corrugated injection molded thermoplastic chamber is provided and includes a body having a multiplicity of peak and valley corrugations running along the curve of the arch shape, wherein the multiplicity includes opposing sidewalls, each having a foot, opposing chamber ends connected to the body, the ends shaped to form joints with the ends of like chambers, a multiplicity of sprues, within spaced apart valleys, at elevations intermediate the foot and apex of the chamber, wherein each sprue has a first runner running upwardly alone the valley in direction of the apex, and a second runner running downwardly along the valley toward the foot, a base runner connected to the bottom of the second runner, running lengthwise along the foot of the chamber; and at least one third runner connected to the base runner and running upwardly along a peak adjacent the valley.

A thermoplastic chamber for leaching wastewater or other use, which is designed so that when jointed to a like chamber the horizontal plane angle between the chambers can be adjusted, has one or more stops which can be selectively used to prevent rotation, for instance, to make the joined-together chambers lie along a straight line. Preferably, the stop is integral part of the chamber base flange; and it hinges and bends upwardly when moved to its working position, so the stop engages and limits movement of the end of the mating chamber.

In one embodiment, pallet substructure can comprise: a reinforcement structure disposed in a plane, a foot member, and a gusset. The gusset can be disposed in mechanical communication with the reinforcement structure and the foot member, wherein the gusset is configured to restrict movement in vertical directions when the substructure is oriented for use.

A method for manufacturing a mold component having a conformal thermal management system comprises forming a first mold segment and a second mold segment, each comprising a surface having a profile defined by the surface. A channel pattern is disposed beneath the profile defined by the surface in at least one of the first mold segment and second mold segment. The first mold segment and second mold segment are aligned to form a network of channels. The first mold segment and second mold segment are joined together to form the mold component.

A method for manufacturing a molded article comprises injecting a quantity of molding material sufficient for the preparation of the molded article into a cavity of a mold, injecting a first portion of fluid into the mold cavity, creating a gas channel within the molding material, and forming the molded article within the mold cavity. At least a portion of the first portion of fluid is exhausted through a gas port, a second portion of fluid is injected into the mold material, and the molded article is cooled within the mold cavity to a temperature beneath a softening point of the molding material.

The leaching chamber endplate including snap connectors, pipe stops, pipe scores, drill guide(s), and a barrier that facilitates enhanced engagement between the endplate and leaching chamber. This endplate is preferably formed using a blow molding process that forms, in situ, the endplate, including the snap connectors and the barrier.
