A gas turbine combustion liner having a novel and improved system for receiving a peripheral device through a floating collar is disclosed. The retaining collar assembly provides planar movement for receiving the peripheral device while preventing the floating collar from rotational movement through an anti-rotation tab on the collar and a collar cap, resulting in reduced wear to the peripheral device. The collar cap can include different configurations for reducing any vibratory effects caused by an oncoming airflow directly contacting the floating collar.

Retaining collar for a gas turbine combustion liner

Embodiments for an apparatus and associated method for reducing the residence time in a gas turbine combustor are disclosed. The embodiments of the present invention comprise a fuel nozzle that extends to a downstream plane of an end cap for a combustion liner where the axial distance of the premixer is reduced, however the swirl for mixing the fuel and air, is increased. As a result, the mixing of the fuel and air is essentially unchanged, thereby allowing higher air pressures and operating temperatures within the premixer without inducing auto-ignition.

Low residence combustor fuel nozzle

An attachment and sealing system for securing a combustor cap assembly to a combustion chamber, while providing effective cooling to the combustor cap assembly aft end, is disclosed. The combustor cap assembly is secured within a combustion chamber by a plurality of pins such that the aft end region of the combustor cap assembly is cooled by a fluid medium that is injected through a plurality of first holes in the combustion chamber wall. A generally annular seal, which encompasses the combustor cap assembly, has a plurality of raised ridges, which are in sealing contact with the combustion chamber wall. Multiple embodiments are disclosed regarding the length of the generally annular seal and position and orientation of the plurality of first cooling holes in the combustion chamber wall.

Combustion liner cap assembly attachment and sealing system

A crossfire tube assembly with telescoping inner and outer crossfire tubes with an enhanced cooling mechanism for connecting adjacent combustors in a gas turbine is disclosed. The enhanced cooling configuration includes a plurality of channels formed in the telescoping region of the inner and outer crossfire tubes of the assembly to improve heat transfer and reduce local operating temperatures such that component life is extended.
