The instant disclosure relates to lubricating compositions having improved frictional properties. The lubricating compositions include an oil of lubricating viscosity and a friction modifier that is a Cto Calkenyl carboxylic acid ester of an aliphatic diol or polyol, where the double bond of the alkenyl group is within or directly attached to the longest continuous chain of the alkenyl group.

Friction modifiers with improved frictional properties and lubricating compositions containing the same

The disclosed technology relates to a lubricating composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and an ashless basic amine additive selected from a secondary amine containing α-carbon aromatic substitution. The basic secondary amine additives used in the lubricating oils of the disclosed technology impart basicity measured as total base number (TBN) without adding sulfated ash. Lubricating oils containing the basic secondary amine additives of the disclosed technology simultaneously achieve seals compatibility, deposit, and corrosion control.

Benzazepine compounds as antioxidants for lubricant compositions

The disclosed technology relates to a dispersant composition comprising the reaction product of a polyolefin acylating agent and a polyamine having a sterically hindered head group. Hindered amine terminated succinimide dispersants and lubricating compositions containing same

A lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and 0.01 to 5 percent by weight of a substantially sulfur-free alkyl phosphate amine salt, where at least 30 mole percent of the phosphorus atoms are in an alkyl pyrophosphate salt structure, exhibits good antiwear performance. In the phosphate amine salt, at least 80 mole percent of the alkyl groups are typically secondary alkyl groups of 3 to 12 carbon atoms.

Michael adduct amino esters as total base number boosters for marine diesel engine lubricating compositions

The invention provides a lubricant composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity and a (thio)phosphoric acid salt of an N-hydrocarbyl-substituted gamma- (&#x3b3;-) or delta- (&#x3b4;-)amino(thio)ester.
