The present disclosure generally relates to enabling efficient implementation of honeypot devices in a honeypot service environment. Each honeypot device can be implemented as a virtualized device, executing software modified from a production version of a device such that interactions with the honeypot device closely match interactions with a production device. By using virtualization, each honeypot device can be reset to a known good state when a potential security breach occurs. Because network-based attacks are often wide-spread, the honeypot service environment can deduplicate attacks that occur at a large number of devices, discarding duplicate attack traffic to reduce overall load on the environment. While deduplication can be inappropriate for production environments (given the corresponding data loss), deduplication in a honeypot environment can reduce load while still enabling detection of a network attack.

Efficient implementation of honeypot devices to detect wide-scale network attacks

Multi-media project editing methods and systems are described. In one embodiment, a project editing system comprises a multi-media editing application that is configured to enable a user to combine multiple different video clips into a video project. A bitmap processor coupled with the multi-media editing application receives a first bitmap that can be used to render a transition between video clips and automatically processes the first bitmap to provide a different transition between video clips. Processing of the first bitmap can include, without limitation, using the first bitmap to provide an entirely new and different second bitmap, or processing the first bitmap in a manner which renders a transition that is different from the transition defined by the first bitmap. In one embodiment, a user is able to enter one or more parameters, through a user interface (UI), with the parameters then being used to manipulate the first bitmap to provide the different transition. Processing of the first bitmap can include many different operations, among which can be included one or more of: stretching, shrinking, replication, and offsetting. In addition, the first bitmap can be processed to include, in the transition it defines, a border that is not otherwise defined by the first bitmap.

Methods and systems for effecting video transitions represented by bitmaps

Methods and systems of processing multi-media editing projects are described. In one embodiment, a software-implemented matrix switch is programmable to route multiple switch inputs to multiple switch outputs and to produce a single output that provides a data stream defined by a multi-media editing project. A request for one or more multi-media files for use in the multi-media editing project is generated by a user computer comprising part of a network where multi-media files are maintained in a network-accessible location. The request is intercepted and a determination is made as to whether a requested multi-media file is located on the user computer. The multi-media file is retrieved if the file is located on the user computer. If the file is not on the user computer, the requested file is sought from the network-accessible location. A multi-media editing project is then produced using the software-implemented matrix switch.

Methods and systems are described that permit efficient processing of user-defined multi-media editing projects that combine multiple different source data streams into a single compressed data stream that represents the project. The described approaches are directed to ensuring that those compressed source data stream portions that need to be uncompressed for processing are uncompressed and processed, while those compressed source data stream portions that do not need to be uncompressed are not uncompressed. In one embodiment, a unique switch assembly is provided comprising one or more switches each of which being configured to process data streams. The switch assembly is configured to process both compressed and uncompressed data streams to provide the single compressed output data stream. In one embodiment, three software-implemented switches are provided&#x2014;one for handling uncompressed source data streams, one for handling compressed source data streams, and one for processing the output of the first two switches to provide the single compressed data stream.

Methods and systems for efficiently processing compressed and uncompressed media content

Systems and methods load one or more source processing chains to support execution of a development project and determine whether each of the one or more processing chains will be subsequently required during execution of this or another development project. If one or more processing chains are needed, each is cached for subsequent use. The source processing chains are coupled with a matrix switch comprising a scalable plurality of inputs and a scalable plurality of outputs, wherein any one or more of the inputs may be iteratively coupled to any one or more of the outputs. Media is processed using the source processing chain(s) and the matrix switch to produce at least one development project.
