A liquid level alarm system is activated when liquid in a container falls below a predetermined level. The system contains an alarm located outside the container. The alarm is electrically connected to a switching device. The switching device may have a push-down button located on the top, an 'on-off' switch located on the side, or a sliding switch located on the side. When the switch is pushed down, the switching device activates the alarm. The container has a vertically positioned rod adjacent the switching device. There is a float slidably connected to the rod by a connecting rod and hook. The float rises and falls with the level of the liquid. On the side of the rod opposite the float there is a switch contact which makes contact with the switch when the level of the liquid falls below a predetermined level and the float is no longer supported by the liquid. The switching device may be electrically connected to a motor which, when activated, changes a valve in an inlet pipe from the opened position to the closed position.

Liquid level alarm system

A system for reinforcing a sandwich panel, the panel having a first exterior skin, an intermediate skin and a second exterior skin, the skins being separated by first and second cores and having a hole bored therethrough of diameter A, the holes in the first and second exterior skins being enlarged to a diameter B, the system including a first tubular sleeve that is insertable into the hole in the first exterior skin and being of a length substantially equal to the spacing between the first exterior skin and the intermediate skin, a second tubular sleeve that is insertable into the hole in the second exterior skin and being a length substantially equal to the spacing between the second exterior skin and the intermediate skin, the first and second sleeves each having a diameter greater than A and slightly less than B, a bolt insertable through the tubular sleeves, the bolt having a head that contacts the exterior surface of the first exterior skin, first and second flare washers positioned on the bolt, one engaging the first tubular sleeve and the other engaging the second tubular sleeve and a nut threadably receivable on the bolt adaptable to contact the exterior surface of the second exterior skin.

System for reinforcing a sandwich panel

A liquid level alarm system is activated when liquid in a container falls below a predetermined level. The system contains an alarm located outside the container. The alarm is electrically connected to a switching device. The switching device may have a push-down button located on the top, an 'on-off' switch located on the side, or a sliding switch located on the side. When the switch is pushed down, the switching device activates the alarm. In one embodiment, the container has a vertically positioned rod adjacent the switching device. There is a float slidably connected to the rod by a connecting rod and hook. The float rises and falls with the level of the liquid. On the side of the rod opposite the float there is a switch contact which makes contact with the switch when the level of the liquid falls below a predetermined level and the float is no longer supported by the liquid. In another embodiment, a float is positioned on tracks so that the switch will be forced down by the float when the liquid level falls below a predetermined point. The tracks contain slots allowing rollers attached to the float to freely rise and fall with the liquid level while maintaining its position relative to the switch. The switching device may be electrically connected to a motor which, when activated, changes a valve in an inlet pipe from the open position to the closed position.

A method of reinforcing a sandwich panel having opposed first and second skins spaced apart by a core having a thickness 'F' in a manner to preserve the spacing between the skins, including the steps of boring an in-line hole through the panel to provide a hole in both skins and the core of a diameter 'A', enlarging the hole in the first skin to a diameter 'B', inserting a tubular sleeve into the in-line hole, the sleeve having a length substantially equal to 'F' and having an external diameter greater than 'A' and slightly less than 'B', the first end of the sleeve contacting the inner surface of the second skin, and flaring the second end of the sleeve to an external diameter greater than 'B' so that it engages the inner surface of the first skin, and inserting a bolt through the sleeve, the bolt having a head to contact the external surface of the first skin and applying a nut to the bolt to contact the external surface of the second skin so that the skins are held in fixed position by the bolt.

Mechanical repair for a honeycomb panel

A liquid level alarm system which activates an alarm when liquid in a container falls below a predetermined level. The system contains an alarm which is located outside of the container. The alarm is electrically connected to an activation device which is contained within a housing. A single-pull switch arm is connected to the activation device and protrudes from the housing. One end of a line is attached to the distal end of the arm. The other end of the line is wound about a spring reel mounted on an axle connected to a float. When the surface of the liquid is between a predetermined upper and lower level, the spring reel maintains the line taut directly below the switch arm. The line is of such length that should the liquid in the container drop below a predetermined level, the float will no longer be supported by the liquid, and the weight of the float will pull the arm down to activate the alarm.
