A spectrally adapted light emitting device for illuminating plants includes at least one semiconductor light-emitting diode (LED), at least one light conversion element for down-converting a portion of light emitted at the first wavelength to at least a second wavelength between 600 nm-680 nm, and at least one scattering device to diffuse light within the light emitting device. The at least one LED is configured to emit at least a first wavelength between 400 nm and 480 nm. The spectral light output from the spectrally adapted light emitting device is bi-modal with wavelengths in a range of 400 nm and 800 nm including a first local maximum between 400 nm and 480 nm and a second local maximum between 600 nm-680 nm with a local minimum between the first local maximum and the second local maximum.

Light emitting device for illuminating plants

A volumetric light emitting device includes a substrate, a semiconductor light emitting diode disposed on the substrate and a reflector ring extending axially from the substrate. The reflector ring defines a first volume bounded by the substrate, an inner wall of the reflector ring, and a terminal plane at a distal end of the reflector ring. An encapsulant fills the first volume and encapsulates the semiconductor light emitting diode. A volumetric light conversion element surrounds the reflector ring and the first volume wherein the volumetric light conversion element is adapted to down-convert light emitted from the semiconductor light emitting diode at a first wavelength and emit the down-converted light at a second wavelength. A second volume of encapsulant or scattering material extends axially between the terminal plane and the volumetric light conversion element.

Volumetric light emitting device

A pedal-supporting apparatus includes a bracket support configured to pivotally support a brake pedal subassembly and an accelerator pedal subassembly. The brake pedal subassembly includes a first upper portion and a brake pedal coupled to the first upper portion by an adjustment device comprising a vertically-elongated C-shaped track and follower. A rack on the track is engaged by a worm gear for adjusting the brake pedal location. The accelerator pedal subassembly is supported by an adjustment device like the brake pedal subassembly, and has a second rack on its track engaged by a worm gear for adjusting the accelerator pedal location. A reversible electric motor includes a rotatable shaft and a driving gear, and gear-driven cables engage the driving gear and extend to the worm gears so that the brake pedal and accelerator pedal are simultaneously and equally adjusted upon actuation of the motor. The tracks can be linear or arcuate.

Adjustable pedal apparatus

A method for installing a vehicle window assembly in a vehicle includes selecting a vehicle interior accessory member from the group including a storage system, a lighting system, an instrument display system, an electrical power system, a temperature controlled air system, a system control panel, a window panel shade system, an interior trim component, a hand grip, and a sun visor assembly, forming the window assembly by securing the selected vehicle interior accessory to a predetermined area of the inner surface of a window panel, and installing the vehicle window assembly over or within a window opening of the vehicle after securing the interior accessory to the window panel such that the interior accessory is accessible to an occupant of the vehicle from the vehicle interior after installation.

Method for installing a vehicle window assembly

A window panel assembly for use in a vehicle includes a window panel having interior and exterior surfaces and a power strip attached to the interior surface of the window panel. The power strip includes a channel receiving an electrically powered accessory such as a map light. The accessory is movable to a number of positions within the channel to accommodate the needs of a vehicle occupant. Preferably, the assembly is used in the roof area of the vehicle such that the accessory is supported overhead of the passenger compartment. An opaque frit layer may be included on the window panel to conceal the power strip when the assembly is viewed from the exterior.

Window panel assembly for vehicles

A shifter system for shifting a transmission on a vehicle includes a shifter having a manually-operated shift lever movable between various gear positions, an electrical sensing device on the shifter for sensing positions of the shift lever, and a controller electrically connected to the sensing device and constructed to control shifting of a transmission based on signals from the sensing device indicative of the position of the shift lever. The controller and the sensing device as a system are capable of sensing speed of movement of the shift lever and the controller is programmed to change control of the shifting of the transmission in accordance therewith. In one form, the sensing device includes one of a continuous output potentiometer, a discrete output potentiometer, a membrane potentiometer, and a deformable variable-resistance potentiometer.

Electrical sensing system for a vehicle shifter

A modular vehicle window assembly is provided which has attached thereto interior vehicle accessories. In a preferred embodiment, the window panel assembly includes a window panel disposed within or covering a window opening formed in the vehicle. The window panel may optionally contain a conventional gasket or sealing structure to provide a weather-tight seal in the window opening. Supported on and interconnecting to the interior surface of the window panel are any one of a number of different accessory configurations, including centerline, island, and peninsular overhead consoles providing storage space, overhead lighting, and air conditioning vents for use by the occupants. Other accessories which may be used include an instrument display assembly, a control assembly, a window shade assembly, and a hand-hold assembly. The interior accessories may be interconnected to the window panel by a variety of fasteners which provide the ability to quickly interchange an interior component and/or provide sufficient tensional strength characteristics to suspend the interior accessory from the interior surface of the window panel. Also provided are a perimeter storage and concealment system for providing a finished interior and storage capability about the interior of the window opening. Preferably, the assembly is used in the roof area of the vehicle such that the accessories are supported overhead of the passenger compartment.

Overhead window assembly for vehicles

A sliding vehicle window assembly which includes at least one, and preferably a pair, of window panels spaced from each other to define a window opening and interconnected by upper and lower frame members or tracks, bonded to the interior surface of the pair of window panels. The upper and lower frame members are also spaced vertically apart from each other. At least one, and preferably two, arcuate channels are defined in each of the inwardly facing walls of the two frame members--the two channels arranged generally in tandem or end-to-end alignment. The pair of channels in each frame member are configured to receive a window panel, opposite ends of which retain cam or channel followers received by the channels. A latch handle interconnects one end of each cam follower and includes a cam projection also received in the channel and when rotated in one end of the channels, moves the sliding window generally perpendicularly with respect to the window opening when the window is located over the window opening. The sliding window is sealed against the window opening by a seal fixed to the interior surface of the fixed window panels carried in a seal carrier which spans the upper and lower portions of the window opening. The advantages include a sliding vehicle window assembly which is substantially flush with the exterior of the vehicle. There are no components which extend beyond the exterior surface of the fixed panels. Additionally, all of the components may be injection molded from lightweight, rigid materials, resulting in less expense. Moreover, the window assembly design is easy to assemble resulting in less man hours per unit and, as a result, less cost. The window assembly is easily adapted to any one of a number of different gasketing techniques used to retain the vehicle window assembly in the vehicle window opening.

Sliding vehicle window

A single-sided gasketed panel assembly for use as a flush-mounted panel or window in vehicles, buildings, or other structures, as well as a method and apparatus for making such panel assemblies, wherein the panel assembly comprises a sheet-like panel having; a primer layer and at least one polymeric gasket molded to the panel on the primer layer. The primer applied to the panel has a predetermined transition temperature above which improved adhesion properties are exhibited for polymeric gaskets molded thereon when the primer is at or above such temperature. The method for manufacturing the panel assembly includes applying a primer having a predetermined transition temperature as a coating to a surface of a panel, heating the panel and primer coating to a temperature at least equal to the transition temperature of the primer, and molding a gasket, preferably of a thermoplastic polymeric material, onto the surface of the heated panel and the primer coating while the temperature of the primer coating is at least equal to the primer transition temperature.

Method for making vehicle panel assembly

A panel assembly and method for manufacturing the panel assembly, especially adapted for use in vehicles, includes a panel of predetermined size and geometry wherein a surface of the panel to receive a gasket is primed using a material especially adapted to prepare the panel surface to bond with the gasket. The desired gasket profile is molded separately from the panel from a polymeric material. Following formation of the gasket, the panel is located thereon and pressed into intimate contact with the gasket for a prescribed period of time. The panel and attached panel are removed as an assembly. Additional or optional steps may be followed including preheating the panel and primed surface prior to bonding to shorten the cycle time and improve adhesion. Moreover, heat may be applied to the contact boundary between the panel and gasket substantially simultaneously with the application of pressure. The steps of heating and applying pressure may be repeated to insure proper adhesion. The panel assembly and the method of manufacturing the panel assembly are especially adapted for use in flush mounted panel assemblies wherein the gasket is fixed only to a single surface of the pane and allows for gradationally varying cross-sectional profiles to specifically suit a needed application.

Method for making vehicular panel assembly

A sliding vehicle window assembly is provided which includes at least one, and preferably a pair, of window panels spaced from each other to define a window opening and interconnected by upper and lower frame members or tracks, bonded to the interior surface of the pair of window panels. The upper and lower frame members are also spaced vertically apart from each other. At least one, and preferably two, arcuate channels are defined in each of the inwardly facing walls of the two frame members--the two channels arranged generally in tandem or end-to-end alignment. The pair of channels in each frame member are configured to receive a window panel, opposite ends of which retain cam or channel followers received by the channels. A latch handle interconnects one end of each cam follower and includes a cam projection also received in the channel and when rotated in one end of the channels, moves the sliding window generally perpendicularly with respect to the window opening when the window is located over the window opening. The sliding window is sealed against the window opening by a seal fixed to the interior surface of the fixed window panels carried in a seal carrier which spans the upper and lower portions of the window opening. The advantages resulting from the various forms of the invention include a sliding vehicle window assembly which is substantially flush with the exterior of the vehicle. There are no components which extend beyond the exterior surface of the fixed panels. Additionally, all of the components may be injection molded from lightweight, rigid materials, resulting in less expense. Moreover, the window assembly design is easy to assemble resulting in less man hours per unit and, as a result, less cost. The window assembly is easily adapted to any one of a number of different gasketing techniques used to retain the vehicle window assembly in the vehicle window opening.

Vehicle window assembly for mounting interior vehicle accessories

A mold assembly for forming a panel assembly having a gasket on one surface for use as a flush-mounted panel or window in vehicles, buildings, or other structures includes a mold cavity defined in a facing surface of one mold section and a pressure pad on the second mold section, the pressure pad being urged against the surface of a sheet-like panel at a position opposite the mold cavity with the panel being held against a support surface adjacent the mold cavity when the mold sections are closed. Preferably, the pressure pad is a heat insulative pad which is urged against the panel surface by a resilient member preferably formed from urethane. The support surface and mold cavity are preferably raised above and offset from adjacent portions of the first mold section, and the size of the raised area of the support surface and mold cavity preferably corresponds in size to the area of the pressure pad.
