A method for removing precompensation in a Write Data signal from a flexible disk controller. A timer measures the time between consecutive transitions. Numerical values from the timer are delayed in a buffer. Numerical times from the buffer are compared to numerical ranges by an array of parallel numerical comparators. Numerical times corresponding to precompensation ranges are numerically compensated. The compensated values are then used to control the time between transitions in a regenerated Write Data signal.

Removal of precompensation in a write data signal from a flexible disk

A removable flotation device for use on a fly fishing rod and reel assembly to prevent the fly rod and reel from submerging when accidentally dropped or otherwise placed in water. The flotation device is comprised of a generally flexible material that provides a reliable buoyancy force and allows the flotation device, when attached, to mold about a handle and corresponding reel seat of the fly rod. When attached, the flotation device does not degrade the proper use and quality of the fly rod and reel during the act of fly fishing.

A data storage system such as a tape drive or flexible disk drive having a dual-gap head being controlled by a dual-mode flexible disk controller. The flexible disk controller has a first mode designed to use a head having one section for perpendicular reading and writing and a second section for erasing. The flexible disk controller has a second mode designed to use a conventional flexible disk head having a single gap for reading, writing and erasing. The data storage system has a head which has one relatively long gap optimized for overwrite/erase capability and a separate shorter read-only gap optimized for reading high bit densities. The data storage system uses the flexible disk controller in its first mode for formatting and writing and in its second mode for reading. When the controller is being used in a perpendicular recording mode, the head design with the write section offset from the erase section requires extended formatted sector fields. The data storage system takes advantage of these extended formatted data sector fields to accommodate a dual-gap head with an offset between the read gap and the write gap.

An adjustable length pole resiliently tethered at the waist to a body harness is used in exercises to condition certain selected muscles. The body harness is preferably of a type known in mountain climbing, having a belt and two straps encircling the crotch. Two elastic tubes, one on each side of a user's body, are each connected at one end to the body harness and at the other end to the pole near the ends of the pole. These tubes resiliently resist bodily movement. The effort of overcoming this resistance provides muscle conditioning. The pole terminates in enlarged, flat portions large enough to overlap the user's hands, with the palm held against the flat portions, fingers spread out. With the pole held by contact with the palms, arms outstretched laterally from the body, with the center of the pole resting on the back of the user's neck, the user twists about the spinal column to exercise the external oblique abdominal muscles. Alternatively, arm extension exercises may be performed in which the user raises and lowers the arms to further develop the oblique abdominal muscles. Lifting exercises, such as the military press, may also be used to improve arm and shoulder muscles.
