Creating web application using cloud-based friction-free databases without web hosting knowledge. User credentials are received at a web application service for initiating a web application task via client software. The user credentials are analyzed to determine whether to grant the user permission to initiate the requested web application task. The web application task is initiated when the permission is granted. Data associated with the initiated web application task is received at the web application service for analysis of the data to host and render a web application based solely on received data provided without basis of web hosting knowledge.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable media implementing various aspects of complex data in a conceptual table are disclosed which enable complex data in the form of tables to be added to a conceptual table. The complex data can map to scalar values in a plurality of data tables. Complex data may be entered via data modeling methods, accessed via cursoring methods, and queried via query expansion methods.

Embodiments are provided to calculate and provide information based in part on a defined expression. In an embodiment, a database system can be configured to include a number of calculated columns as part of a database table structure. The database system can be configured to present a calculated result based in part on a determined result type. In one embodiment, a database system can be configured to enable calculated columns to be defined on a table of a database, wherein a component can be used to evaluate an expression associated with a column calculation to determine a proper result type. The proper result type can be stored and used when presenting a result of the calculation. Other embodiments are available.
