Embodiments may be generally directed to a system for generating reactive acoustic energy for reducing acoustic noise in a chassis of an information handling system. A set of acoustically reactive elements may be positioned relative to a backplane comprising a plurality of backplane openings. Each acoustically reactive element comprises a plurality of walls and an acoustical energy reducing opening. The plurality of walls define an internal volume, wherein at least one wall is aligned parallel with a direction of airflow. The acoustical energy reducing opening may be oriented substantially parallel with the direction of the airflow and configured for the airflow passing the acoustically reactive element to pass the acoustical energy reducing opening to generate acoustic energy at a frequency based on the set of parameters of the acoustically reactive element.

A method for designing an enclosure by predicting hard drive disk (HDD) performance in an experimental enclosure, where the enclosure is a modified version of the experimental enclosure. The method includes obtaining, by an HDD performance data generator, an experimental enclosure vibration dataset from a vibration measurement apparatus, obtaining an ideal HDD vibration threshold; making a first comparison between the experimental enclosure vibration dataset and the ideal HDD vibration threshold, calculating, based on the first comparison, an experimental enclosure HDD performance dataset, making a first determination that the experimental enclosure HDD performance dataset exceeds an acceptable threshold, and performing a design action on the experimental enclosure based on the first determination to generate a design of the enclosure.

Systems and methods for predicting hard drive performance

A fan carrier includes a fan mounting section, a connector mounting section, and a connecting section. The fan mounting section is placed in physical communication with a fan of an information handling system. The fan mounting section has both structural rigidity and vibration rigidity. The connector mounting section is placed in physical communication with a fan-side connector of the information handling system. The connector mounting section has structural rigidity to properly align the fan-side connector with a motherboard-side connector of the information handling system. The connecting section is in physical communication with and located in between the fan mounting section and the connector mounting section. The connecting section has structural rigidity and vibration flexibility, and the vibration flexibility reduces vibrations from the fan before the vibrations are transmitted to the fan-side connector.

A fan carrier is to be placed in physical communication with a fan-side connector of an information handling system. The fan carrier includes a plunger assembly and multiple isolators. The plunger assembly is biased toward an at-rest position. The plunger assembly is in physical communication with the fan-side connector when the plunger assembly is in a deformed position. The isolators are mounted on the fan carrier, and dampen vibration energy in the fan carrier and prevent the vibration energy from being transferred to the fan-side connector. The isolators enable the fan-side connector to float within the fan carrier.

A method for designing an enclosure using an idealized hard drive disk (HDD) vibration threshold datasets for an experimental enclosure, where the enclosure is a modified version of the experimental enclosure. The method includes generating HDD vibration threshold datasets, obtaining HDD performance datasets based on the HDD vibration threshold datasets and historical enclosure vibration datasets, comparing the HDD performance datasets to the historical HDD performance datasets, calculating fitness scores for each of the HDD vibration threshold datasets based on the comparison, and designating, based on the fitness scores, an HDD vibration threshold dataset of the HDD vibration threshold datasets as the ideal HDD vibration threshold dataset.

Systems and methods for generating hard drive vibration thresholds

An information handling system includes a server chassis and a fan gantry. The server chassis has a first bracket secured to a first edge of the server chassis, a second bracket secured to a second edge of the server chassis, and a center mount secured to a bottom of the server chassis. The fan gantry has multiple fans, a first block secured to a first end of the fan gantry, a second block secured to a second end of the fan gantry, and an opening in a center of a bottom surface of the fan gantry. The first block interfaces with the first bracket, the second block interfaces with the second bracket, and the center mount inserts within the opening to mount the fan gantry to the server chassis.
