A hull assembly for a pontoon boat includes a hull extending in a longitudinal direction between a front end and a rear end. A first thruster assembly is attached to a first lateral side of the hull. A second thruster assembly is attached to a second lateral side of the hull. The first and second thruster assemblies include respective thrust units that are each movable between a deployed position and a stowed position.

A trim control system includes a memory storing a plurality of trim profiles, each trim profile defining a unique relationship between a plurality of vessel speeds and respective propulsion device trim angles. The unique relationship is: (a) a calibrated relationship developed by determining optimal trim angles for a particular propulsion device powering a particular marine vessel at a number of tested vessel speeds and a number of different conditions; or (b) developed by modifying a nominal relationship between a number of vessel speeds and a number of corresponding trim angles. An input device allows a user to select one of the trim profiles from the memory so as to specify an aggressiveness of trim angle relative to vessel speed. A controller determines a setpoint trim angle corresponding to measured vessel speed according to the selected trim profile. The control system positions the propulsion device at the setpoint trim angle.

Systems and methods for automatically controlling attitude of a marine vessel with trim devices

A trim control system automatically controls trim angle of a marine propulsion device with respect to a vessel. A memory stores trim base profiles, each defining a unique relationship between vessel speed and trim angle. An input device allows selection of a base profile to specify an aggressiveness of trim angle versus vessel speed, and then optionally to further refine the aggressiveness. A controller then determines a setpoint trim angle based on a measured vessel speed. If the user has not chosen to refine the aggressiveness, the controller determines the setpoint trim angle from the selected base profile. However, if the user has chosen to refine the aggressiveness, the controller determines the setpoint trim angle from a trim sub-profile, which defines a variant of the relationship between vessel speed and trim angle defined by the selected base profile. The control system positions the propulsion device at the setpoint trim angle.

A user input device for controlling steering and/or propulsion of a marine vessel includes a movable member movable by a vessel operator to control the steering and/or propulsion of the marine vessel, a variable resistance device controllable to vary resistance to movement of the movable member, and a controller that controls the variable resistance device. The controller is configured to detect an unstable condition indicator and, upon detecting the unstable condition indicator, control the variable resistance device to increase resistance to movement of the movable member.

Device and method for providing user input control on a marine vessel

An electrical power system is connectable to an AC base power supply to provide AC base electrical power to a mobile unit. The AC mobile unit electrical power is provided in one embodiment without pass-through of AC electrical power which would otherwise bypass an AC/DC inverter. In one implementation, a marine electrical power system is connectable to an AC shore power supply to provide AC shore electrical power to a docked marine vessel.

Systems and methods are for cooling a marine propulsion system on a marine vessel. A lift pump pumps raw cooling water from a body of water in which the marine vessel is situated. The lift pump pumps the raw cooling water through an open cooling circuit from an upstream inlet for receiving the raw cooling water to a downstream outlet for discharging the cooling water back to the body of water. A control circuit controls operation of the lift pump. At least one sensing device indicates whether the lift pump is connected to the body of water. The sensing device is in communication with the control circuit. The control circuit prevents operation of the lift pump when the sensing device indicates that the lift pump is not connected to the body of water.

Systems and methods for cooling marine propulsion systems on marine vessels in drydock

Multifunctional displays for a marine vessel having a propulsion system can include a sequential indicator, a first portion, a second portion and a transition portion between the first portion and the second portion. The first portion depicts changes in a characteristic of a first component of the propulsion system during a first operational mode of the propulsion system. The second portion depicts changes in a characteristic of a second component of the propulsion system during a second operational mode of the propulsion system. The transition portion depicts a change in operation of propulsion system between the first operational mode and the second operational mode. A marine vessel icon has first and second icons depicting changes in characteristics of the first and second components. The icon changes position when the operational mode of the marine vessel changes.

In one example, a hybrid marine propulsion system includes a marine propulsor that propels a marine vessel; an internal combustion engine that selectively powers the marine propulsor; an electric motor that selectively powers the marine propulsor; a controller that controls operation of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor according to a plurality of modes including an engine mode wherein the engine alone powers the marine propulsor and a boost mode wherein the engine and the electric motor together power the marine propulsor; and a user input device that inputs a user-initiated command to the controller to thereby change control from the engine mode to the boost mode. Upon input of the user-initiated command, the controller can maintain an existing output of the internal combustion engine such that the power provided by the electric motor is added to the power already being provided by the internal combustion engine.

Systems and methods for powering hybrid marine propulsion systems

A cooling system for an outboard motor pumps water from a body of water through certain selected portions of the outboard motor and through a heat exchanger which, in turn, comprises a coolant conduit that is directed to conduct the coolant in thermal communication with various portions of the outboard motor. The engine block is cooled by a flow of the coolant and an engine head is cooled by a flow of water from the body of water. Other heat emitting devices are connected in thermal and fluid communication with the water and coolant conduits.
