A bucket tip shroud measurement fixture includes a frame extending from a first end to a second end through an intermediate portion having a first surface and an opposing second surface, a first tip shroud fixing member extending from the second surface of the frame at the first end, and a second tip shroud fixing member extending from the second surface of the frame at the second end. The first and second tip shroud fixing members are configured and disposed to retain and establish an orientation of a bucket tip shroud relative the frame. A plurality of reference points are provided on the frame. The plurality of reference points are configured and disposed to receive a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) probe.

Bucket tip shroud measurement fixture and method of measuring bucket tip shroud orientation

The present application further describes a method for extending the operating life of a tip shrouded turbine blade that includes the steps of: 1) removing an end located cutter tooth from a seal rail of a tip shroud, the end located cutter tooth including a cutter tooth located at the end of one of the suction side and pressure side of the seal rail of the tip shroud; and 2) attaching a center located cutter tooth to the seal rail of the tip shroud, the center located cutter tooth including a cutter tooth that is located in the approximate center of the seal rail of the tip shroud. In such method, the center located cutter tooth may be attached to the seal rail such that the center located cutter tooth is inside the airfoil if it were projected radially outward from the narrowest point below a tip shroud fillet.

A damper pin for a turbine bucket includes an elongated main body portion having a first substantially uniform cross-sectional shape and axially-aligned, leading and trailing end portions having a second relatively smaller cross-sectional shape at opposite ends of the main body portion. A seal element is provided on one or both of the opposite leading and trailing end portions projecting radially outwardly beyond the main body portion.

Turbine blade combined damper and sealing pin and related method

A measurement system measures a gap between a plurality of rotating bucket tips and a stationary shroud surface. The system includes a sensor secured to the shroud surface, where the sensor senses a distance between each of the rotating bucket tips and the shroud surface, and a key phasor indexing each of the plurality of rotating bucket tips. A processor receives data from the sensor and the key phasor and calculates a shift against each of the plurality of buckets. The processor determines a time to bucket replacement based on current service hours of the plurality of rotating buckets tips.

Method and apparatus for creating seal slots for turbine components

A bucket for a turbine is described. The bucket includes a dovetail portion configured to couple the bucket to a turbine wheel, the dovetail portion having a lower surface. The bucket also includes a shank portion that extends from the dovetail portion and an airfoil having a root and a tip portion, an airfoil shape, and a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y, and Z set forth in Table I. The bucket also includes a plurality of cooling passages. The plurality includes no more than five cooling passages that extend between the root and the tip portion of the airfoil. Each of the cooling passages exits the airfoil at the tip portion, the plurality of cooling passages are positioned in a camber line pattern.

A method of determining the moment weight of a rotating component for a rotary machine includes the steps of: (a) supporting the component on a platform at a pair of spaced locations along a length dimension of the component, one of the spaced locations corresponding to a known radial distance from a centerline of a rotor of the rotary machine to a predetermined location on the component when the component is installed on the rotary machine, and wherein a center of gravity of the component is located between the spaced locations; (b) determining partial weights of the rotary machine component by supporting the platform on a pair of weight scales vertically aligned with and substantially centered on the spaced locations, wherein a total weight TW of the component is equal to a sum of the partial weights; (c) utilizing information obtained in step (b), locating a center of gravity of the component relative to the one of the spaced locations and determining a radial distance Dbetween the center of gravity and the centerline of the rotor; and (d) utilizing information obtained in steps (a)-(c), determining the moment weight of the component by an equation: MW=TW*D

Methods and apparatus for determining moment weight of rotating machine components

A bucket for a turbine is provided. The bucket includes an airfoil having a root portion, a tip portion, an airfoil shape, and a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y, and Z set forth in Table I, wherein Z is a distance from a platform on which the airfoil extends outwardly from, and X and Y are coordinates defining the profile at each distance Z from the platform. The bucket also includes a plurality of cooling passages extending between the root portion and tip portion of the airfoil, each of the plurality of cooling passages exiting at the tip portion, the plurality of cooling passages positioned in a camber line pattern.
