Example embodiments of systems and methods for preventing chip fraud are provided. A chip fraud prevention system may comprise a device including a chip, wherein the chip is at least partially encompassed in a chip pocket. One or more connections may be communicatively coupled to one or more surfaces of the chip, and a capacitance member may be coupled to a surface of the chip. The capacitance member may comprise a known capacitance value and the chip may comprise a memory containing an applet, wherein the applet is configured to measure the capacitance value of the capacitance member.

Systems and methods for use of capacitive member to prevent chip fraud

A contactless card with power harvesting unit is described. The power harvesting unit is configured to harvest power from near field communication radio wave fields and supply power to a memory, processor, and communication circuit of the contactless card. In some embodiments, the contactless card may also include a capacitor for smoothing out power deliver or a rechargeable battery. The contactless card is configured to establish two-way communication with a secondary device and to store and execute applets. In some embodiments, the contactless card is a payment card which contains information associated with a primary profile and a secondary profile. The first layer of material may be in communication with the chip. For example, an application executing on a computing device may authenticate credentials associated with an account and detect a tap of a contactless card to the computing device. The application may receive, from a communications interface of the contactless card, action data used to determine an action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device. The application may determine a context of the application based on a current output of the application. The application may determine, based on the action data, the determined context, and data associated with the account, a first action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device, the first action associated with at least one of the application and an operating system (OS). The application may initiate performance of the first action based on the tap of the contactless card.

Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques to provide an orientationless transaction card. Embodiments include a transaction card having a substrate comprising one or more laminated layers and a chip comprising processing circuitry, and memory, the chip embedded within the substrate. The transaction card may also include a first contact pad coupled with the chip, the first contact pad embedded on a first side of the substrate at a first location and a second contact pad embedded on the first side of the substrate at a second location. Further, the transaction card includes an antenna embedded within the substrate, the antenna to couple the chip with the second contact pad.
