A ganging mechanism is configured to releasably attach a first object to a second object. The ganging mechanism includes a first part that is coupled to the first object. The first part includes a movable portion that carries a first ganging member. The movable portion is positionable between a stowed position and an extended position. The second part is coupled to the second object. The second part includes a receiver portion that receives the movable portion in the extended position. The second part includes a second ganging member that is configured to couple to the first ganging member resulting in the first object being ganged to the second object. The first and second ganging members are releasably coupled to one another by magnetic attraction.

A recliner has a chair frame that provides support to a seat and back rest. The frame includes a recliner assembly that includes a bracket that is connected to the backrest enabling reclining movement of the backrest as the bracket moves through a correspondingly shaped bracket slot in a recliner base plate, and where the bracket rotates about an axis that approximates the position of the rotational axis of the hip of a seated user. The reclining chair can also be part of a modular system of components that enable one or more seating units to be in a spanned or ganged configuration.

An office desking system includes a worksurface and an accessory system configured for flexible and adjustable attachment to an edge of the worksurface. The accessory system includes C-shaped clamps with legs and an intermediate section forming a cavity for engaging the edge. Each of the legs and the intermediate section have an attachment feature, such as threaded holes, with the top leg potentially including two attachment features. Accessories such as upright slatwall panels, upright erasable panels, upright tackable panels, upright screens, shelves, downwardly-extending modesty panels, &ldquo;full height&rdquo; up-and-down screens, and wire managers are attachable to one or more of the attachment features, in various combinations, to provide a useful and flexible accessory system.

An apparatus having a partition with a frame, a worksurface and a bracket assembly. The bracket assembly supports a rear edge of the worksurface to the frame at a selected location on a horizontally extending attachment feature included on the frame. The bracket assembly includes a partition-engaging bracket configured to securely engage the horizontally extending attachment feature, a worksurface-engaging bracket configured to securely engage the rear edge of the worksurface, and an interconnecting bracket. The partition-engaging bracket and the interconnecting bracket include horizontally-extending overlapping flanges. The worksurface-engaging bracket is configured to interlockingly secure the horizontally-extending overlapping flanges together in a vertically adjusted selected position.

A freestanding support for supporting a worksurface and an overhead storage unit and the like in an open office environment includes at least three legs where each leg has a bottom portion adapted for resting on a floor, a top horizontal support adapted for receiving and supporting a worksurface on the support, and a vertical support which maintains the bottom portion and the top horizontal support in a fixed vertically spaced relationship. A stretcher extends between and is attached to an upper rear portion of the end legs thereby maintaining the two end legs in a parallel horizontally disposed relationship. The freestanding support also has at least two support posts. One support post has an intermediate portion attached to the stretcher and is positioned substantially in alignment with one of the end legs and further has a bottom portion attached to the vertical support of the end leg. At least a second additional support post has an intermediate portion attached to the stretcher in alignment with the intermediate leg and has a bottom portion attached to the vertical support of the intermediate leg. Each support post has an upper end which is adapted to support a portion of an overhead storage unit above the worksurface supported by the top horizontal supports. The intermediate positioning of one of the support posts and the intermediate leg permits the incorporation of an overhead storage unit with a given worksurface having a different length than the overhead storage unit.

Freestanding furniture system

A system of worksurfaces for workstations and the like comprise at least first and second individual worksurfaces adapted to be supported in a generally horizontal orientation at a substantially common height. Each worksurface has a top surface, with an inner edge configured to accommodate a user thereby, and also has lateral edges shaped to abut one another when the first and second worksurfaces are positioned adjacent each other. The inner edges are elliptically contoured wherein the ellipse defined by the inner edges is substantially coplanar with the worksurfaces and is aligned with a horizontal diagonal of the workstation thereby adapting the worksurfaces to particular uses. The inner edges are variably tapered in elevation to be deeply tapered in areas of frequent user interaction and shallowly tapered in areas used primarily for storage and minimal user interaction.

A partition construction includes a partition frame and a markerboard having a flat, dry erasable markerboard surface that erasably receives an erasable medium. The partition further includes top and bottom brackets for attaching the markerboard to the partition frame. The bottom bracket defines a bottom channel that receives a bottom edge of the markerboard. The top bracket defines an opposing top channel that engages a top edge of the markerboard. The top bracket includes an inner component attached to the partition frame and defining an inner portion of the top channel. The top bracket further includes an outer component that is attached to the inner component and defines an outer portion of the top channel. The outer component is configured to be secured after the markerboard is set on the bottom bracket and is pivoted into engagement with the inner components so that, when secured, the outer component, the inner component, and the bottom bracket capture the markerboard.
