A connector includes a first connection element () provided with a portion of greater diameter () upstream to a portion of smaller diameter () and a second connection element () provided with a female contact element () including a local narrowing of diameter (), the narrowing being upstream to a contact piece () housed at the bottom of a cavity. During the connection between the two connection elements, the portion of greater diameter of the male contact element comes into contact with the local narrowing of diameter of the female contact element in the corresponding cavity, before the portion of smaller diameter of the male contact element comes into contact with the contact piece housed at the bottom of the cavity.

Connector assembly for connection under voltage

Disclosed is a two-step method for crimping a contact () comprising a sleeve (), the sleeve being provided with a cylindrical portion () and a truncated portion (), about one end () of a cable () inserted in this sleeve. In the first step, the cylindrical portion is crimped around bared strands () of the cable by means of a first jaw (). In a second step, while the crimping pressure exerted during the first step is maintained, a second jaw () is shifted axially along the sleeve so as to apply stress to outer walls of the tapering portion along the bared strands of the cable and also along a sheath () of the cable.

Process of crimping a contact on strands of wire

In a linking device () between strands () of a cable () and a contact element () comprising a hollow intermediate tube () provided with a channel, the tube has a first aperture () used for the insertion of one end () of the cable into the channel and a second aperture () to cooperate with the contact element. The tube is a solid part like the contact element. It is made of a material having a coefficient of expansion similar to that of the strands. This tube enables connexion between strands with a coefficient of expansion different from that of the contact element with which they have to be connected.
