A computing device is described that receives, at a first particular time, first notification data. Responsive to receiving the first notification data, the computing device outputs, at a first intensity level, a first alert associated with the first notification data. The computing device receives, at a second particular time after the first particular time, second notification data. Responsive to the computing device receiving an indication of user interaction with the computing device between the first particular time and the second particular time, the computing device outputs, at the first intensity level, a second alert associated with the second notification data. Conversely, responsive to the computing device not receiving the indication of user interaction with the computing device, the computing device either outputs, at a second intensity level that is less than the first intensity level, the second alert, or refrains from outputting the second alert entirely.

Limiting alerts on a computing device

A computing device is described that receives notification data, and selects, based on the notification data, a template graphical user interface (GUI) view from a plurality of template GUI views. The computing device automatically generates, from a portion of the notification data, an application GUI view that includes the portion of the notification data included within one or more fields of the template GUI view. The computing device outputs, for display, the application GUI view.

Automatic graphical user interface generation from notification data

Methods and apparatus related to identifying content accessed on a computing device that is likely actionable on another computing device. Some implementations are directed to methods and apparatus for identifying a computing device of a user, identifying content accessed on another computing device by the user, determining content that is actionable on the computing device, determining a confidence level that the actionable content is of interest to the user, and providing the actionable content for use on the computing device if the confidence level satisfies a threshold. The confidence level may be based on an indication of time passage between the user accessing the content on the other computing device and the identified use of the computing device.

Providing actionable content to a computing device based on user actions

A computing system includes a communication unit configured to receive a plurality of message histories, at least one processor, and at least one module. The at least one module is operable by the at least one processor to: determine, based on the plurality of message histories, a plurality of message and response pairs, determine a number of instances of each response for each message from the plurality of message and response pairs, classify each response from the plurality of message and response pairs as having an information type, and store an indication of each unique message from the plurality of message and response pairs, an indication of the information type associated with the respective response associated with the unique message, and a number of responses from the plurality of message and response pairs having the information type.

Predictive responses to incoming communications

Disclosed are methods and systems for determining distance between two or more mobile devices utilizing a sound emitted from each device such as a chirp. Each device may determine or receive an indication of a time reference for each instance the device emits or detects a chirp. Utilizing the time reference data, the distance between the two or more devices may be determined assuming the sound travels at a constant speed of 340.29 m/s. Techniques for disambiguating orientation of the devices relative to one another rare also disclosed.

Mapping positions of devices using audio

A computer system can include a hotword manager, a hotword detection module, and a browsing application. The hotword manager can maintain information for a plurality of hotwords that correlates identifiers for the hotwords with respective representations for the hotwords. The hotword detection module can listen for spoken input and detect when spoken input corresponds to one of the plurality of hotwords. The browsing application can (i) parse an electronic document to identify respective identifiers for one or more hotwords included in the electronic document, (ii) generate a display of the electronic document that includes respective representations for the one or more hotwords, the respective representations obtained from the hotword manager using the identifiers for the one or more hotwords included in the electronic document, and (iii) perform a particular set of operations in response to identifying spoken input for a particular hotword included in the electronic document.

Hotwords presentation framework

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for providing query suggestions. One of the methods includes receiving query log data that identifies a query and a location where the query was issued. A point of interest near the location where the query was issued is identified. A category of the point of interest near the location where the query was issued is identified. The query is associated with the category of the point of interest near the location where the query was issued.

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for detecting ambient audio, generating audio data based on the ambient audio, generating a first audio fingerprint based on the audio data, providing the first audio fingerprint to a fingerprint comparison engine, the fingerprint comparison engine providing a comparison between the first audio fingerprint and a second audio fingerprint, and receiving a proximity signal based on the comparison.

Proximity detection via audio

A system and method for client-side authentication is disclosed. A client device comprises a browser and an authentication module. The browser is configured to receive a cookie and a timestamp via the network and determine a plug-in ID. The authentication module is communicatively coupled to the browser to receive the cookie, the timestamp and the plug-in ID. The authentication module determines a signing key and a public ID based at least in part on the cookie. The authentication module signs the timestamp, plug-in ID and the public ID using the signing key. The authentication module concatenates the public ID, the timestamp, the plug-in ID and the signature to form an authenticated plug-in URL using the security token. The browser loads the authenticated plug-in URL to display a plug-in and begin an authenticated session that expires at a time specified by the time-based security token.
