This invention relates to methods of forming an elastic, breathable film/nonwoven layer laminate. In particular, the invention pertains to elastic polymer compositions that can be more easily processed on cast film lines, extrusion lamination or coating lines. The compositions of the present invention preferably comprise an elastomeric polyolefin resin and a high pressure low density type resin.

The process for producing the coating composition according to the instant invention comprises the steps of: (1) providing an ethylene based copolymer composition; (2) providing a propylene polymer composition; (3) providing a chlorinated olefin polymer composition; (4) optionally providing a filler; (5) optionally providing an adhesion promoting agent; and (6) melt blending said ethylene based copolymer composition, said propylene polymer composition, said chlorinated olefin polymer composition, said optional filler and said optional adhesion promoting agent. The articles according to the instant invention comprise optionally a substrate; and a coating. The method for making the inventive articles comprises the steps of (1) providing a substrate; (2) providing a coating composition; and (3) coating said coating composition into onto at least one surface of said substrate.

The instant invention is a coating composition, method of producing the same, articles made therefrom, and method of making such articles. The coating composition according to the instant invention comprises (a) 10 to 55 percent by weight of an ethylene based copolymer composition; (b) 5 to 25 percent by weight of a propylene polymer composition; (c) 15 to 60 percent by weight of a chlorinated olefin polymer composition; (d) optionally less than 40 percent by weight of a filler; and (e) optionally 1 to 20 weight percent by weight of an adhesion promoting agent.

Polymer blends comprises 1) at least one ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer and 2) at least one polyolefin, or at least one styrenic block copolymer, or a combination thereof. Such polyolefins include, but are not limited to, high melt strength high density polyethylene and high melt strength polypropylene. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymers are random block copolymers comprising at least a hard block and at least a soft block. The polyolefins can be homopolymers or interpolymers. The resulting polymer blends can be used to make flexible molded articles.

Anti-blocking polymer compositions comprise at least one ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymer and at least one anti-blocking agent comprising an amide. The ethylene/&#x3b1;-olefin interpolymers are a multi-block copolymer comprising at least one soft block and at least one hard block. The anti-blocking agent can be erucamide or other amides. The anti-blocking polymer composition has a pellet blocking strength of equal to or less than 100 lbs/ft(4800 Pa). When the anti-blocking polymer composition is made into a film, the film has a blocking force of less than about 100 grams, measured according to ASTM method D-3354.

Polymers with a high glass transition temperature are used in cement additives to produce a portland cement mortar or concrete that does not have the initial stickiness typical of prior art polymer-modified portland cement compositions and does not form a crust on the surface when exposed to air drying, thus improving the working time of the mix. This simplifies equipment cleaning and permits the use of transit mixers for field applications of polymer-modified concrete. The properties of the mortar and concrete modified with these materials, both in the plastic and hardened state, are equivalent or superior to those of the currently available products which use film-forming materials. A method and apparatus for analyzing a solution of a crystalline or a semi-crystalline polymer sample to determine a crystallinity versus weight percent profile concurrently with viscosity average molecular weight. The polymer sample is first precipitated from solution over a cooling temperature gradient to produce a precipitated polymer sample, which is precipitated as a function of its crystallinity. The precipitated polymer sample is then eluted and redissolved over a heating temperature gradient to produce successive fractions of a fractionated polymer sample solution, which are measured to produce concentration and specific viscosity data from which the intrinsic viscosity and viscosity average molecular weight are calculated.

This invention relates to a latex-modified, pretensioned, and prestressed concrete structure having at least about a 50% reduction in bond transfer length as compared to a structure not modified by a latex. Such structure is composed of a cured concrete composition comprising a mixture of (1) portland cement, (2) mineral aggregate, and (3) a vinylidene chloride polymer latex, said latex being present in an amount sufficient to provide from about 5 to about 25 percent by weight of polymer solids.
