In one implementation, a plurality of signature vectors from a multi-dimensional representation of a graphical object is generated. Each of the signature vectors comprises attributes that vary little in response to changes in shape, size, orientation, and visual layer appearance of the graphical object, and each of the signature vectors includes attributes based on operations of integration, differentiation, and transforms on the multi-dimensional representation of the graphical object. Each signature vector is composited into multiple portions from the plurality of signature vectors to define an appearance-invariant signature of the graphical object.

Graphical object appearance-invariant signature

An 'Anchored Environment Generator' generates a physically constrained virtual environment that is molded and anchored to a real-world environment around a user (or multiple users). This molding and anchoring of the physically constrained virtual environment ensures that at least a portion of the physically constrained virtual environment matches tactile truth for one or more surfaces and objects within the real-world environment. Real objects and surfaces in the real-world environment may appear as different virtual objects, and may have different functionality, in the physically constrained virtual environment. Consequently, users may move around within the physically constrained virtual environment while touching and interacting with virtual objects in the physically constrained virtual environment. In some implementations, the physically constrained virtual environment is constructed from virtual building blocks that are consistent with a theme-based specification (e.g., French bistro, space station, starship, alternate real-world environments, alien world, apocalyptic wasteland, medieval village, hospital, castle, etc.).

Molding and anchoring physically constrained virtual environments to real-world environments

Fast general multipath correction in time of flight imaging is described, for example, to obtain accurate depth maps at frame rate from a time of flight camera. In various embodiments accurate depth maps are calculated by looking up corrected depth values stored in a look up table. In various embodiments the corrected depth values are highly accurate as they take into account three or more possible light ray paths between the camera and a surface in a scene being imaged. In an example accurate depth maps are computed at a frame rate of a time of flight camera. In an example accurate depth maps are computed in less than 30 milliseconds for an image having over 200,000 pixels using a standard CPU.

Fast general multipath correction in time-of-flight imaging

In one implementation, a graphical object classification system includes an acquisition module, a signature generation module, and a classification module. The acquisition module accesses a representation of a graphical object. The signature generation module generates an appearance-invariant signature of the graphical object based on the representation. The classification module classifies the graphical object based on the appearance-invariant signature.

An image registration method to register a target image with a reference image is provided, including to determine a target set of features present in the target image, to determine a reference set of features present in the reference image, to generate respective signatures for each feature in the target and reference sets, to match features from the target set to corresponding features in the reference set using the signatures, to generate respective transformations to map pairs of features in the target set to corresponding pairs of features in the reference set, and determine a similarity transformation for the target image using a measure of the accuracy of the transformations.

Image registration

Indications are received regarding which of plural outputs are preferred over others of the plural outputs. A continuous function is computed that satisfies constraints corresponding to the received indications and that satisfies a predefined criterion. Values of parameters are computed based on the continuous function, wherein the values of the parameters are useable in a process to generate an output.

Determining parameter values based on indications of preference

A technique includes using a processor-based machine to determine a discrete color flow transformation to map target colors of a target object to source colors of a source object based at least in part on a first histogram indicating a color distribution of the target object and a second histogram of a color distribution indicating the source object. The technique includes determining a continuous color flow transformation to map the target colors to the source colors based at least in part on the discrete color flow transformation; and transforming the target colors of the target object to generate a third object based at least in part on the continuous color flow transformation.

Transferring colors from a source object to a target object

A technique includes representing an image to be segmented using a graph including vertices and edges, where a subset of the vertices is marked as belonging to a plurality of objects. The technique includes assigning weights to the edges based at least in part on color probability densities associated with the objects derived from the subset of vertices marked as belonging to the plurality of objects; and segmenting the image, including identifying boundaries of the objects based at least in part on the weights and the graph.
