A multi-band antenna system that includes a first antenna array and a second antenna array. The first antenna array includes a plurality of lens sets, each including a lens and feed element(s) configured to transmit and/or receive electromagnetic signals that pass through the lens. The second antenna array includes a plurality of antenna elements, each disposed between two of the lenses of the first array.

Multi-band lens antenna system

An antenna beam tracking system has dynamic interference reduction. The system includes antennas that can form multiple beams, each beam of which can continually track or point its beams independently in various angular directions. A first beam continually tracks and receives (downlink) signals from a desired source or node such as a satellite or terrestrial node which generally has an apparent motion relative to the antenna. A second beam continually tracks and receives potentially harmful interference signals that may arise from different directions. The signals of the second beam are dynamically coupled to the signals in the first beam in such a manner as to effect cancellation or substantial reduction of the interference.

Antenna assemblies and associated satellite tracking systems that may include a low profile two-way antenna arrangement, tracking systems, and applications thereof. Applications for the system include military, civilian, and domestic emergency response applications. The antenna arrangements may be configured to form a spatial element array able to track a satellite in an elevation plane by electronically dynamically targeting the antenna arrangement and/or mechanically dynamically rotating the antenna arrangements about transverse axes giving rise to generation of respective elevation angles and dynamically changing the respective distances between the axes whilst maintaining a predefined relationship between said distances and the respective elevation angles. The system provides dynamic tracking of satellite signals and can be used for satellite communications on moving vehicles in military and civilian applications.

Applications for low profile two way satellite antenna system

A method and apparatus are provided for operating a phased-array antenna (,) on a satellite-based communications node (,) in more than one mode by controlling the number of beam-forming elements and by applying appropriate phase-control and/or amplitude-control coefficients to the selected elements. The antenna can be operated as a diffused-beam antenna at a relatively low data rate, enabling the satellite-communications node (,) to communicate with a first terrestrial communications node (,). The antenna can also be operated to generate multiple focused-beam antenna patterns each communicating at a relatively high data rate, enabling the satellite-communications node (,) to communicate with a different terrestrial communications node (,) by changing the amplitude and/or the phase coefficients as well as the number of beam-forming elements.

A modular phased array antenna for the formation of simultaneous independently steerable multiple beams, the modular phased array antenna comprising a modular array including a plurality of sub-array modules combined together in close proximity, each one of the plurality of sub-array modules including a plurality of input modules, a layer of a plurality of radiating antenna elements, a plurality of stacked beamformers arranged in series and each connected to one of the plurality of input modules and to the plurality of radiating antenna elements in beam communication.
