A method of ordering a new optical article definable based on features of an initial optical article including at least a lens, the method including the following steps: &#x2014;acquiring an identifier by capturing a marking carried by the lens of the initial optical article; &#x2014;sending, by an electronic device, the identifier and an order for the new optical article. A corresponding apparatus and a corresponding method for launching production of the new optical article are also described.

A spectacle lens includes a substrate and an anti-reflection or mirror interference coating covering the substrate on the side of the front face, the interference coating forming a one-dimensional or two-dimensional bar code pattern, the marking being formed by a plurality of point holes on a portion of a thickness of the interference coating, the front face having, away from the point holes, a coefficient of reflection of light having a predetermined nominal value and, in each the point hole, a coefficient of reflection of light having a particular predetermined value that is different from the nominal value.

Spectacle lens provided with a permanent marking

On a first aspect, the spectacle lens is selected as including a transparent support in which is coded an identifier readable by an external reading tool for retrieving the identifier. A distant server is contacted using the identifier and data related to the spectacle lens is so gathered. On a second aspect, data related to the spectacle lens is provided to a predetermined database. Upon receiving a request issued from a requester, the database is accessed and at least some of the data is retrieved, the request including at least part of the identifier, and the retrieved data is sent to the requester.

Method for monitoring a spectacle lens

Disclosed is a method for verifying conformity with a predetermined criterion of use of a spectacle frame intended to receive two ophthalmic lenses, including: a) at least one geometrical, mechanical, and/or structural characteristic is determined and the frame category to which the frame belongs from a set of predetermined spectacle-frame categories is deduced therefrom; b) an outline of at least one of the ophthalmic lenses intended to be mounted in the spectacle frame or of a rim of this spectacle frame is determined; c) the value of each parameter from a list of parameters of the frame is evaluated, considering the frame category of step a); the value of at least some of the parameters being evaluated as a function of the outline determined in step b); d) the conformity of the spectacle frame to the predetermined criterion is deduced from the values of the parameters of the spectacle frame.
