Systems and methods for 2-factor authentication of an offline Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) are provided. One system comprises a data input apparatus for entering a qualifying identification of an installer and for entering an authorizing signal by the installer to login into an application that shows the EVSE that the installer is authorized to configure the EVSE. The login to initiate a power cycle of the EVSE which is a first-factor authentication and puts the EVSE in a configuration mode. The system further comprises an authorization computer connected to the data input apparatus for establishing an authorization signal and for verifying a received authorization signal for a user to connect the EVSE to Internet which puts the EVSE in a connected mode. The user rights of the user are cheeked as a second-factor authentication by a Charger configuration tool or a charger application or a configuration software.

Configuring offline electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) via 2-factor authentication

An Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) configuration management system is provided for managing configuration of an EVSE. The system comprises a centralized system configured to supply locally or remotely a series of known valid credential combinations to a group of EVSEs on a sharing basis. It further comprises a first EVSE communicatively coupled to the centralized system. The first EVSE comprises a first processor and a first memory storing instructions that, when executed by the first processor, cause the first EVSE to: store in the first EVSE locally/remotely a first wireless network configuration based on a first valid credential combination associated with a first wireless network that has a first login and a first password, and store in the first EVSE remotely a second wireless network configuration based on a second valid credential combination associated with a second wireless network that has a second login and a second password.

Electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) configuration management system and method

A system and a method of sending sampled meter data from an electric vehicle charger to a backend for reporting via Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) for use by a utility to charge a customer for a power usage bill is provided. The method comprises sampling the meter data during a charging session of an electric vehicle (EV) at the electric vehicle charger being in an offline state to generate a raw utility billing cycle interval data and session data and a raw greater than 45-days interval data and session data. The method further comprises not sending the raw utility billing cycle interval data and session data as is from the electric vehicle charger to the backend. The method comprises sending a summary of the raw utility billing cycle interval data and session data in a format compliant with the OCPP to be interrupted correctly by an OCPP server.

An on-line method and apparatus for collecting demographic information from a user of a home WWW site and for dynamically selecting questions to present to the user is disclosed. A plurality of sponsor symbols are displayed for the user on the home WWW site. A signal is received at the home WWW site from the user indicating a selection of one of the sponsor symbols by the user. In response to the selected sponsor symbol, a first set of one or more prize symbols are displayed for the user on the home WWW site. A further signal is then received at the home WWW site from the user indicating a selection of a prize symbol from the first set of prize symbols by the user. Next, the system determines whether the user is a registered user of the home WWW site and, if the user is not a registered user of the home WWW site, the system collects demographic information about the user during registration of the user on the home WWW site. In response to the demographic information, at least one question is selected from a plurality of candidate questions, wherein each of the plurality of candidate questions is associated with the entity corresponding to the selected sponsor symbol. The selected question is displayed to the user on the home WWW site. Next, a signal is received from the user indicating an answer of the user to the selected question, and the answer is stored in a database.

An on-line method and apparatus for collecting demographic information from a user of a home WWW site and for dynamically selecting questions to present to the user. A plurality of sponsor symbols are displayed for the user on the home WWW site. Each of the sponsor symbol corresponds to an entity that has paid an owner of the home WWW site for the right to be presented to the user on the site. A signal is received at the home WWW site from the user indicating a selection of one of the sponsor symbols by the user. In response to the selected sponsor symbol, a first set of one or more prize symbols are displayed for the user on the home WWW site. Each prize symbol corresponds to a prize that the user can register to win at no cost to the user. A further signal is then received at the home WWW site from the user indicating a selection of a prize symbol from the first set of prize symbols by the user. Next, the system determines whether the user is a registered user of the home WWW site and, if the user is not a registered user of the home WWW site, the system collects demographic information about the user during registration of the user on the home WWW site. In response to the demographic information, at least one question is selected from a first plurality of candidate questions, wherein each of the first plurality of candidate questions is associated with the entity corresponding to the selected sponsor symbol. The selected question is displayed to the user on the home WWW site. Next, a signal is received from the user indicating an answer of the user to the selected question, and the answer is stored in a database. Finally, after the user answers the question, the user is redirected from the home WWW site to a further WWW site associated with the selected sponsor symbol.
