A method includes: obtaining, at a controller of a device, a delay setting corresponding to an effector head configured to engage with the device, the effector head having (i) an array of effector elements, (ii) a first switch assembly controllable to deliver power to a first subset of the effector elements, and (iii) a second switch assembly configured to deliver power to a second subset of the effector elements; at the controller, activating the array of effector elements by: controlling the first switch assembly to deliver power to the first subset during a first time period, and controlling the second switch assembly to deliver power to the second subset during a second time period, the second time period shifted relative to the first time period according to the delay setting.

Systems and methods for detecting an event within a monitored area are provided. A transmitter emits an RF interrogation signal into the monitored area. An RF target positioned within the monitored area reflects the interrogation signal as a target signal when the interrogation signal impinges on the RF target. The RF target has a switch actuatable by a user between a switch-state in which the RF target operates in a first reflective state, and a switch-state in which the RF target operates in a second reflective state. A receiver receives the target signal from the RF target. Based on the target signal received by the receiver, a processor can detect an indication of the reflective state in which the RF target is operating. The processor triggers an action in response to the indication of the reflective state in which the RF target is operating.

Systems, methods, and apparatuses are disclosed for providing a high speed adaptive thermal printhead interface. In one embodiment, an apparatus is provided comprising at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program instructions, the computer program instructions being configured to, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to determine identifier information for a connected printhead; retrieve printhead interface configuration data for a configurable printhead interface based at least in part on the identifier information; configure printhead interface circuitry in accordance with the printhead interface configuration data; and enable communication with the printhead through the configurable printhead interface.

High speed adaptive thermal printhead interface

Media rolls, support structures for the media rolls, and media processing systems are provided. A media roll may include an identification transponder having retrievable information regarding the media units and associated media unit transponders wound around a core of the media roll. A support structure may include a spindle for supporting a media roll and include an identification coupler for communicating with the identification transponder. In addition to the spindle having the identification coupler, the media processing systems may include a second coupler for encoding the media unit transponders and a printhead for printing indicia onto the media units. The information retrieved from the identification transponder may be used to adjust one or more encoding and/or printing settings of the systems.
