An electrical connector for use with providing an electrical termination to an end of a cable having a conductor helically disposed between a core and a layer overlying the core. The connector includes a first portion having an opening sized greater than a diameter defined by the helically disposed conductor but less than a diameter of the layer. A second portion has an opening sized greater than a diameter defined by the helically disposed conductor. A third portion is configured to receive a conductor of a second cable. As a result of the end of the cable being sufficiently inserted through the opening of the first portion, the helically disposed conductor is exposed about a length of the cable extending through another side of the first portion and received in the opening of the second portion.

Spiral heater wire termination

A connector assembly for electrically coupling solar shingles is provided. The solar shingles include photovoltaic sections that convert light into electricity and supporting sections having upper surfaces to which additional solar shingles are mounted. The connector assembly includes a contact and a protective cover. The contact electrically couples the photovoltaic sections of adjacent solar shingles by engaging conductive members disposed in recesses of the supporting sections of the solar shingles. The protective cover is disposed in the recesses of the solar shingles. The protective cover encloses the contact between the protective cover and the conductive members.

Connector assembly for solar shingles

A connector is provided for terminating an end portion of a cable that includes a conductor. The connector includes a housing and a contact held by the housing. The contact is configured to be connected to the conductor of the cable. A keying member is rotatably held by the housing. The keying member is configured to cooperate with a keying element of a mating connector that mates with the connector. The keying member is movable about the housing such that the keying member is rotatably positioned to align with the keying element of the mating connector.

A junction box is provided for electrically connecting a photovoltaic (PV) module to a power distribution system having a mating connector. The junction box includes a housing having a mounting side configured to be mounted on the PV module. The housing includes a mating interface and an opening extending into the housing through the mounting side. The housing is configured to mate with the mating connector of the power distribution system at the mating interface. An electrical contact is held by the housing. The electrical contact includes an integrally formed, one-piece body. The body of the electrical contact includes a base, a mating end extending from the base, and a PV module end extending from the base. The base of the body of the electrical contact is held within the opening of the housing such that the mating end extends along the mating interface for engagement with the mating connector. The PV module end of the body extends outwardly from the opening on the mounting side of the housing for engagement with foil of the PV module.

Junction box for photovoltaic modules

A receptacle assembly includes a guide frame having top, bottom and side walls joined to form an interior cavity configured to receive an electrical module. One of the top, bottom and side walls has an opening therethrough, and a heat sink is mounted over the opening. The heat sink has an engagement surface located proximate the interior cavity of the guide frame, and the engagement surface of the heat sink is configured to physically contact a module when installed in said interior cavity. The heat sink dissipates heat generated in the module and facilitates a data transmission rate of 10 Gbs through the assembly.
