The invention relates to an airbag module () of a vehicle occupant restraint system, specifically a knee airbag module, comprising a folded inflatable airbag () for restraining a vehicle occupant, a module housing () which includes a flexible airbag sheath () at least partially enclosing the folded airbag (), and comprising a module cover () which includes fasteners () for fastening the module cover () to the module housing (), wherein the flexible airbag sheath () of the module housing () is fixed directly to said fasteners (), and wherein at least one flexible anchoring element (') is provided which extends between the folded airbag () and the module cover () and limits or prevents expansion of the folded airbag () toward the module cover ().

Airbag module of a vehicle passenger restraint system

A knee airbag unit () of a vehicle occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle is described. The knee airbag unit () comprises an airbag module (), which has a module holder (), a gas generator () and a flexible, non-inherently rigid module housing () that at least partially surrounds the gas generator () and the airbag in the untriggered state, wherein the gas generator (), the airbag and the flexible module housing () are fastened to the module holder (). Also provided is a cover () forming a module covering and defining an outer side in the installed state of the knee airbag unit (), which is connected to the airbag module (). Furthermore, there is an edge-side means () securing the cover () against lowering, originating from the module holder ().

Knee airbag unit of a vehicle occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle

The invention describes an airbag () for a vehicle occupant restraint system, wherein the airbag () in the inflated state includes a front side () forming an occupant impact surface and an opposite rear side (). The front side () and the rear side () are formed by shell portions () of the airbag () being connected to each other at their outer edges (). The front side () is longer along a centerline (M) extending in the longitudinal direction of the airbag () than the rear side () so that, in the inflated state, the airbag () takes a curved shape. The front side () has at least one shaping line () extending substantially curved and transversely to the centerline (M) at which shaping line two shell portions () are connected to each other. The respective outer edges () of the front side () and the respective outer edges () of the rear side () are of the same overall length.

Airbag for a vehicle occupant restraint system

An airbag module () comprises a housing (), a folded airbag () and a flexible fixation () which fixes the folded airbag () on the housing (). There is provided a tensioning device () by which the fixation () can be brought from an initial state to a tensioned state. Moreover, a method of mounting an airbag module () is provided.

Airbag module and method for mounting an airbag module

A knee airbag module of a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises an outer housing () having a front side () including a deployment aperture () as well as an opposite rear side (), an airbag () and an inflator () which provides filling gas for the deployment of the airbag (). The airbag () is folded and in the folded state is retained by a flexible airbag wrapping () while forming an airbag package (), wherein the airbag package () constitutes a pre-assembled unit and the flexible airbag wrapping () closes off the knee airbag module () at least in portions to the outside. There is provided a rigid outer housing part () which includes a first bearing zone () positioned in the area of the airbag package () against which the airbag () bears during deployment.

Knee air bag module

A knee airbag module of a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises an outer housing () in which an airbag () folded into an airbag package prior to its deployment as well as an inflator () generating filling gas for filling the airbag () are accommodated. In the outer housing () an exit opening () is formed through which the airbag () leaves the outer housing () during deployment. The airbag () is subdivided into plural chambers (-) arranged in series and being in fluid communication. The chamber closest to the inflator () is separated from an adjacent chamber () by a wall () which in the inflated airbag () extends substantially in the area of the exit opening () along the exit opening ().

Knee airbag module

The invention relates to an airbag module comprising a housing () for an airbag () and a cover (), the housing including a fabric part () which at least partly encloses the airbag (), characterized in that means () for fastening the housing () which are formed integrally with the cover () are provided and in that the fabric part () is arranged directly on the fastening means ().
