A diaphragm valve includes a valve body with a valve seat disposed in a valve cavity surrounding a flow passage, a diaphragm movable between a closed position in sealing engagement with the valve seat and an open position axially spaced apart from the valve seat, and an actuator including an actuator housing assembled with the valve body and an actuating arrangement axially movable within the actuator housing between a first position holding the diaphragm in the closed position and a second position permitting movement of the diaphragm from the closed position to the open position. The actuating arrangement includes an actuator stem extending through a lower bore in the actuator housing, an actuator button disposed between a lower end of the actuator stem and the diaphragm for contact with the diaphragm, and a bearing member disposed between the actuator stem and the actuator button.

A diaphragm sealed flow cavity comprises a first body comprising a support surface, a diaphragm comprising an outer portion that is joined by a weld to the first body, a clamped portion, and an inner portion that is movable along an axis, with the clamped portion of the diaphragm being compressed between the bearing surface and the support surface. The diaphragm sealed flow cavity may include a cylindrical body having a crimped portion for joining the cylindrical body to the first body. The diaphragm sealed flow cavity may also include a member that applies a live load to the clamped portion of the diaphragm. In the exemplary embodiments, the diaphragm sealed flow cavity may be realized as part of a diaphragm flow control valve having a valve body, diaphragm and a housing.

A valve actuator includes a valve body, a valve member comprising a shaft, and a piston connected to the shaft, with the valve member being movable by operation of the piston. The valve body comprises a valve chamber that provides fluid communication between an inlet passage and an outlet passage. The shaft is disposed in and extends through a sealed chamber, the sealed chamber being sealed at one end from the valve chamber and at another end from a piston chamber, and a vent that extends from the sealed chamber to an external surface, wherein the shaft extends axially in both directions past sealed ends of the sealed chamber.

The present application relates to valve and actuator assemblies. The valve actuator assemblies may include a capless valve actuating arrangement, include a replaceable passage defining member that includes seal members, include a valve member that is assembled in a valve chamber from an end of the valve body that is opposite an end that a piston is assembled in, and/or include a valve member that may be rotated in a valve body without affecting the ability of the valve member to perform its sealing functions.

Valve and actuator assemblies

A modular flow system having individual modules that connect in a manner which allows for easy addition or removal of a module without the need for or risk of disturbing the connection between all modules. The system may include a first base having a through bore in which a fastener is disposed. The first base may include portions or components adapted to capture or retain the fastener within the bore. While retained within the bore, the fastener may connect the first base to a second base.

The present invention provides a seal for use in a modular flow device and is utilized for joining and aligning a first mating surface and second mating surface having axial flow passageways. The seal comprises a protruding annular radiused edge about the axial passageway of the first mating surface and an annular groove about the axial passageway of the second mating surface. The groove has an inner angled wall for engaging with the annular radiused edge when the mating surfaces are compressively joined. Thus, a leak proof seal is formed around the fluid passageway and the passageways are aligned with respect to each other. The invention also relates to check valves for use with modular surface mount systems in which the check valve can be used as a surface mounted component or as part of a substrate that is mounted to or between other substrates and components.

Modular flow devices

A modular block assembly is provided for interconnecting fluid components of a fluid system in a reduced area. The system includes a base block having angularly disposed passages that receive fasteners in opposite, parallel end faces of the block. The fasteners allow adjacent base blocks to be connected in end-to-end fashion. The first passage extends through one of the end faces and communicates with an upper face of the block. Fluid components are selectively secured to the upper face of the base block to control or regulate fluid flow through the system as desired. Additional angle openings and fasteners, as well as additional fluid passages, may be provided in side wall faces of the base blocks. These additional passages permit transfer of fluid from one adjacent flow line to another. Each fluid passage end includes face seals allowing abutting engagement between the modular components to provide a sealed, continuous flow passage.
