Provided are nozzle assemblies and related methods for a spraying apparatus. The nozzle assembly includes a fluid side wall defining a fluid passageway that extends longitudinally along a fluid axis and terminates in a fluid aperture; an air cap side wall extending around the fluid side wall and partially defining an air passageway that terminates in an atomizing aperture adjacent the fluid aperture. A pair of diametrically opposed air horns protrude past the fluid aperture from the air cap side wall and define respective air horn cavities in communication with the air passageway, each air horn having an external surface and a fan control aperture extending along a fan control axis through the external surface to flow air against a fluid stream discharged from the fluid aperture. The fan control aperture has a certain aperture shape defined along a reference plane perpendicular to the fan control axis, and for each air horn, a baffle projects into a volumetric shape defined by extruding the certain aperture shape outwardly along the fan control axis. The baffle modifies the shaping air jets between the fan control apertures and the atomized fluid stream to provide a refined spray pattern.

Vent assemblies movable between a vented position and a non-vented position are described along with reservoirs in which the vent assemblies may be used. The vent assemblies each include an aperture and a closure member. The closure member is configured for movement along a cam surface to generate a compressive force such that a sealing surface on the closure member is forced against the wall of the reservoir and over the aperture such that the vent assembly is in the non-vented position. The closure member movement may be, e.g., rotational or linear (i.e., translational) when moving between the vented and unvented positions.

A system and method for preparing and collecting samples for analyte testing. The system can include a sample preparation system and a sample collection system coupled to the sample preparation system. The sample preparation system can include at least one of a deformable self-supporting receptacle comprising a reservoir and a freestanding receptacle comprising a reservoir. The reservoir can be adapted to contain a liquid composition. The sample collection system can be positioned in fluid communication with a reservoir of the sample preparation system, and can be adapted to capture an analyte of interest. The method can include providing a fluid path defined at least partially by the sample preparation system and the sample collection system, positioning the liquid composition in a reservoir of the sample preparation system, and moving at least a portion of the liquid composition in the fluid path to the sample collection system.

A liquid supply assembly is disclosed. The liquid supply assembly may be used in combination with a spraying device or spray gun to apply liquid to a substrate. The liquid supply assembly is particularly suitable for use in systems utilizing pressurized liquid containers.

A spray gun reservoir has an oversize central openingat one end allowing liquid to be added to the reservoir for fast filling with reduced risk of spillage. A cap memberis connectable to the reservoir and has a spoutproviding a fluid outlet of reduced size relative to the openingfor connection to the spray gun. The reservoir can be disconnected from the cap memberwhen it is desired to add liquid to the reservoir. In this way, the reservoir can be re-filled in use.

A paint reservoir has a fluid outletconnectable to a spray gunand a fluid inletprovided with a removable screw capwhereby the fluid inletis directly accessible for introducing paint to the reservoir while attached to the spray gun. The fluid outletand fluid inletmay both be provided in an end wall of the reservoir with outletlocated on the longitudinal axis of the reservoir or offset to allow the size of the fluid inletto be increased for easier filling of the reservoir. The outletcan be aligned with the longitudinal axis of the reservoir or it can be inclined relative to the longitudinal axis to provide greater clearance for access to the fluid inletwhen the reservoir is attached to the spray gun. In an alternative arrangement, the fluid outlet is provided in an end wall of the reservoir and the fluid inlet is provided in a sidewall of the reservoir.

A reservoir () for connection to a spray gun has a lid () provided with an outlet spout () that is rotatably received in a socket of an inlet adaptor () connectable to the spray gun. The lid () has a spring leg () spaced from the outlet spout () with a projection () at the distal end for self-latching engagement with a flange () of the adaptor () to secure releasably the reservoir () to the spray gun. The engagement of the projection () and flange () enables the reservoir () to be rotated through 360&#xb0; to adjust the position of the reservoir () while attached to the spray gun.
