The disclosure relates to antimicrobial compositions and their methods of use and manufacture. In particular, the antimicrobial compositions described herein comprise an antimicrobial active, a primary foaming agent, and an L-amino acid to provide rapid antimicrobial efficacy. In a preferred embodiment, the antimicrobial compositions are dermal cleansers. In a most preferred embodiment, the antimicrobial compositions comprise a foam structure enhancing agent.

The antimicrobial composition of the present invention comprises a cationic active ingredient, a foam boosting surfactant, a foam boosting copolymer, a foam stabilizer, and a chelating agent. The present antimicrobial compositions are free of the antimicrobial agent triclosan (i.e., 2,4,4'-trichloro-2′hydroxy-diphenylether), have rapid cidal activity, provide stable copious foam and exhibit enhanced tissue (e.g. skin) compatibility as defined by an in vitro whole toxicology assessment method.

The present invention is directed to antiviral compositions that provide efficacy against non-envelope viruses such as noroviruses. The antiviral compositions comprise an alkyl 2-hydroxycarboxylic acid and an effective amount of a sulfonated surfactant. The antimicrobial foaming composition of the present invention comprises a cationic active ingredient, a cationic compatible surfactant, a foam booster, a foam structure enhancing agent, dermal adjuvants, and a carrier. The present antimicrobial compositions are free of the antimicrobial agents triclosan (i.e., 2,4,4'-trichloro-2&#x2032;hydroxy-diphenylether) and lower alcohols. They are also free of anionic surfactants. The foaming compositions have rapid cidal activity, provide stable, copious foam, and exhibit enhanced tissue (e.g. skin) compatibility.

Antimicrobial foaming compositions containing cationic active ingredients

A disinfecting shower cleaner composition including a medium-chain fatty acid coupled with a nonionic surfactant providing temperature stable antimicrobial compositions. The invention specifically relates to antimicrobial compositions including fatty acid antimicrobial agents coupled with an ethoxylated amine and methods of using the antimicrobial compositions.
