A point-of-care diagnostic system that includes a cartridge and a reader. The cartridge can contain a patient sample, such as a blood sample. The cartridge is inserted into the reader and the patient sample is analyzed. The reader contains various analysis systems, such as an electrophoresis detection system that uses electrophoresis testing to identify and quantify various components of the blood sample. The reader can process data from the various patient sample analysis to provide interpretative results indicative of a disorder, condition, disease and/or infection of the patient.

Diagnostics systems and methods

A point-of-care diagnostic system that includes a cartridge and a reader. The cartridge can contain a patient sample, such as a blood sample. The cartridge is inserted into the reader and the patient sample is analyzed. The reader contains various analysis systems, such as a magneto-optical system that measures a light transmission differential through the patient sample in varying magnetic fields. The reader can process data from the various patient sample analysis to provide interpretative results indicative of a disease, infection and/or condition of the patient.

A time-passage indicator device can comprise a housing, a plurality of light elements located inside the housing, a window comprising an inner and an outer surface, and a processor that controls the plurality of light elements. Some devices also contain a touch sensor, and the processor controls the light elements based upon signals from the touch sensor. The window can be attached to the housing and diffuses or scatters the light from the plurality of light elements. The light elements can emit light through the window forming an illuminated region viewable by a user. The processor can control the light elements such that the illuminated region changes to indicate the passage of time. The illuminated region can be viewable from all angles between 10 degrees and 90 degrees, where the angle of 90 degrees corresponds to a normal viewing angle.

The present disclosure provides techniques for a ventilator system with a removable airway. A ventilator system may include a removable airway and a base unit. The removable airway may include an air inlet port, a patient inhalation port, an air exhaust port, a patient exhalation port, a first portion of a pressure sensor, and a first portion of a flow sensor. The base unit may include two pinch valves, a second portion of the pressure sensor, and a second portion of the flow sensor. In some cases, the airway does not comprise any openings other than the air inlet port, the air exhaust port, the patient inhalation port, and the patient exhalation port. In some cases, air inside the removable airway does not contact any part of the base unit without first exiting the air exhaust port.

A transistor having at least one passivated Schottky barrier to a channel includes an insulated gate structure on a p-type substrate in which the channel is located beneath the insulated gate structure. The channel and the insulated gate structure define a first and second undercut void regions that extend underneath the insulated gate structure toward the channel from a first and a second side of the insulated gate structure, respectively. A passivation layer is included on at least one exposed sidewall surface of the channel and metal source and drain terminals are located on respective first and second sides of the channel, including on the passivation layer and within the undercut void regions beneath the insulated gate structure. At least one of the metal source and drain terminals comprises a metal that has a work function near a valence band of the p-type substrate.
