The invention relates to a span () for railway tracks with a self-supporting U-shaped structure (), defining a section of the path for a piece of rolling stock (), travelling on the railway track and at least one further element () for the travel of the rolling stock () on the railway track and which can support, guide and/or supply the rolling stock (). According to the invention, at least one () of the additional elements () is directly integrated in the U-shaped element ().

This structural system comprising a track for a magnetic levitation transport system powered by a linear electric motor is notable in that it combines two T-shaped tracks produced in a single U-shaped structure, the vertical bars of the T-shapes and the U-shapes being joined, and the lower slabs of the track-supporting U-shapes contributing to the general strength of the engineering structure, in the absence of lateral screens.

Beams extend transversely outwards from at least one side of each span beyond the corresponding side flange and shelf. Each beam is of a length in the transverse direction and of strength that are predetermined to be sufficient for enabling additional structures, e.g. slabs, to be installed subsequently on said beams, which additional structures preferably extend said soleplates outwards, in particular to form a station.
