A garden tiller is disclosed herein. The garden tiller includes at least one handle portion configured to be grasped by a user; a shaft portion coupled to the at least one handle portion, the shaft portion having a first end and a second end, the second end of the shaft portion being oppositely disposed relative to the first end; and a body portion coupled to the second end of the shaft portion, the body portion including an impact motor configured to drive one or more cultivating teeth for loosening and/or displacing soil, the impact motor configured to apply an impact torque to the one or more cultivating teeth so as to more effectively break up compacted soil.

Garden tiller utilizing an impact motor

Included are embodiments of a power assisted garden tool. Some embodiments include a handle and an interchangeable tool implement including a garden tool end, a connection end, and an impact platform. Similarly, some embodiments include a drive mechanism coupled to the handle, the drive mechanism including a power source, a motor that provides rotational motion to a rotary shaft, and a piston coupled to the rotary shaft, the piston exhibiting reciprocating motion from the rotational motion, the piston making contact with the interchangeable tool implement, such that the reciprocating motion of the piston causes motion of the interchangeable tool implement.

Power-assisted garden tools

A system and method for screening tissue is provided. The system provides a computer-based system for distinguishing between normal and potentially abnormal tissue. The system includes computer components for generating and receiving ultrasonic waves, for storing a tissue model, and for analyzing received ultrasonic waves in the context of the tissue model.

A method for reducing levels of JAK 1 and thereby blocking the signal transduction pathways that are employed by IFN-.alpha., IFN-.beta., and IFN-.gamma. is provided. In one embodiment the method comprises the steps of: providing a cytomegalovirus (CMV) gene product selected from the group consisting of the CMV immediate early gene (IE) products, the CMV early gene (E) products, and combinations thereof; and introducing the CMV gene product or products into cells at levels sufficient to decrease the levels of JAK 1 in the cell. In another embodiment the method comprises the steps of providing a DNA molecule that comprises a CMV IE gene, a CMV E gene, or combinations thereof; introducing the DNA molecule into the cell; and inducing the expression of CMV IE and E genes in the cell, wherein the expression of products encoded by the CMV IE and CMV E genes decreases the levels of JAK 1 in the cell.
