A retaining system for fishing apparatus includes elastic bands which hold the reel on the handle of a fishing rod. In another embodiment the elastic bands prevent sleeves which hold the reel on the handle from disengaging from the reel. In both embodiments the elastic bands have been specially designed to permit easy rolling along the handle of the fishing rod.

A system for illuminating a surgical site includes a surgical tool having a tubular shaped body with an outer wall that extends from a proximal end to a distal end of the tubular shaped body. An opening extends through the outer wall. The system includes an illumination device coupled with the surgical tool for providing light inside the tubular shaped body. The illumination device includes a proximal end having a housing with a power source, a distal end including a distal tip, an LED disposed inside the distal tip, and a flexible power line extending between the housing and the distal tip for interconnecting the LED with the power source. The distal tip is inserted into the opening extending through the outer wall of the tubular shaped body for providing light inside the tubular shaped body.

Systems for conducting surgical procedures and illuminating surgical sites

A surgical illumination device includes a LED with a positive terminal, a negative terminal, and a heat transfer pad. A flexible circuit has first and second electrically conductive traces extending from a proximal end to a distal end thereof. The first conductive trace is electrically interconnected with the positive terminal, the second conductive trace is electrically interconnected with the negative terminal, and a heat transfer window on the flexible circuit is aligned with the heat transfer pad. The illumination device includes a heat sink having a distal end with a distal end face. A thermally conductive adhesive pad is disposed between the LED and the distal end face of the heat sink. The thermally conductive adhesive pad is aligned with the heat transfer window of the flexible circuit and the heat transfer pad of the LED base.
