A method for providing an output image, the method includes: determining an importance value for each input pixels out of multiple input pixels of an input image; applying on each of the multiple input pixels a conversion process that is responsive to the importance value of the input pixel to provide multiple output pixels that form the output image; wherein the input image differs from the output image.

System, method and a computer readable medium for providing an output image

A method of mapping a collection of images, or other higher dimensional items including text documents, and three-and-higher dimensional objects, onto a navigable grid for browsing via a user interface comprises obtaining for each of the images a list of nearest neighbor images and similarity scores for each nearest neighbor; placing a first image on a cell within a grid; from a respective list of nearest neighbors of said first image, finding images that maximize a compatibility score with images already placed on the grid and placing resulting images on neighboring cells; and continuing to place further images on the grid until all cells visible to a user are filled with images. As the user pans or zooms the grid, more cells move into the visible area of the screen and are filled with images in the same way.

Dynamic maps for exploring and browsing of images

A method of obtaining a three-dimensional digital model of an artificial object, made up of a plurality of geometric primitives, the artificial object being in a single two-dimensional photograph, the method comprising: using edge detection to define a two-dimensional outline of the artificial object within the photograph; interactively allowing a user to define two-dimensional profiles of successive ones of the geometric primitives; interactively allowing a user to sweep respective profiles over an extent of a corresponding one of the geometric primitives within the image; generating successive three-dimensional model parts from existing detected edges of the corresponding geometric primitives and the sweeping of the respective profile; and aligning the plurality of three-dimensional model parts to form the three-dimensional model.

Three-dimensional modeling from single photographs

A video compression system is provided. An encoder may encode video that is decoded by a decoder. The video may be made up of video frames. The decoder may generate approximated display frames for viewing on a display device based on corrected reference frames. The corrected reference frames at the decoder may be created based on approximated reference frames generated based on model state information and based on difference frames provided by the encoder. The encoder may create the difference frames by subtracting approximated reference frames from exact reference frames. The exact reference frames may be created based on a model of a three-dimensional virtual reality environment. The encoder may create the approximated reference frames based on corrected reference frames that are generated based on the difference reference frames.

Model-based view extrapolation for interactive virtual reality systems

A method by which a client and a server cooperate to render views of a virtual reality world within which a user of the client navigates. The server sends the client a reference view and a model to use to extrapolate the reference view in response to the user's virtual movement. The client sends the server a record of the user's virtual movement. Both the client and the server perform the model-based extrapolation of the reference view. The server also performs an exact update of the reference view. When the extrapolated reference view deviates too much from the updated reference view, the server sends the client the difference between the extrapolated and updated reference views, so that the client can update its reference view.
