An anchor system including a slip, and a cone supportive of the slip in a set position, the cone being configured to reduce structural integrity thereof upon receipt of a signal. A density-based flow control configuration includes a housing and a first baffle having a first flow opening, a second baffle having a second flow opening adjacent the first baffle, one of the baffles being rotationally movable relative to the housing and to the other of the baffles, a first density float associated with the movable baffle, to impart torque to the associated baffle, the torque causing alignment or misalignment of the first and second openings. A method for allowing flow of a target fluid and choking flow of a nontarget fluid, including exposing a density-based flow control configuration to a fluid, imparting torque to a first baffle, and aligning or misaligning an opening in the first baffle with another opening to allow or choke flow of the fluid. Density-based flow control configuration, method, and system

A fluid density valve housing includes a pilot fluid inlet and outlet and a primary fluid inlet and outlet. A shuttle is disposed within the housing. The shuttle comprises a portion having a reference density and a portion defining a cavity fluidically connected to the pilot fluid inlet, the shuttle permitting or denying primary fluid flow depending upon a density of a pilot fluid flowing through the cavity versus the reference density. A method for controlling flow, including comparing density of a pilot flow with a reference density, moving a valve between fully open, fully closed, and choked depending upon the differential density between the pilot fluid and the reference density. A borehole system, including a borehole in a subsurface formation, a string in the borehole, and a fluid density valve disposed within or as a part of the string.

Fluid density valve, method, and system

An inflow control device including a valve responsive to pressure inputs, and a fluid discriminator having a first structure that supports a first flow regime and a second structure that changes the flow regime to exhibit a higher pressure, a first pressure tap at the first structure and a second pressure tap at the second structure, the taps experiencing a differential pressure that is different for water and for oil flowing through the discriminator, and the first and second pressure taps connected to the valve. An actuator for another tool includes a housing that is either modular and attachable to the tool or may be incorporated into the another tool. Within the housing is a biasing member that may be retained in a compressed condition by a retainer. A trigger holding the retainer, the trigger having a trigger head anchorable to the housing, a separation neck having a helical groove therein and a trigger body, the body being connected to the retainer, the trigger being defeatable on command.

Pass-through tapered nose tool

A tapered nose tool includes a housing, a retrievable tapered nose disposed in the housing and retrievable from the housing, and a mechanically shiftable sleeve. The mechanically shiftable sleeve is shiftable with a shifting profile disposed in the housing. The sleeve anchors the nose in the housing in a first position and releases the nose from the housing in a second position.

A segmented backup ring including a plurality of individual segments each having curved surfaces that define an arcuate portion of the ring, each segment including a body section having the arcuate profile and defining a receptacle therein having a circumferential dimension, a projection section having a head portion and a neck portion and extending from the body section in a circumferential direction of the ring, the projection section being receivable and retainable in the receptacle of an adjacent segment body section, and the head portion having a dimension in line with the circumferential direction of the ring that is shorter than the circumferential dimension of the receptacle.

Frequency modulation for magnetic pressure pulse tool

An apparatus for generating power includes a fluid chamber configured to receive borehole fluid, one or more conductive coils surrounding the fluid chamber, a reciprocating magnetic shuttle disposed in the fluid chamber and dividing the fluid chamber into a first volume and a second volume, a first conduit connected to the first volume, and a second conduit connected to the second volume, the first conduit and the second conduit extending from a tubular conduit to an annulus. The apparatus includes a switching assembly configured to alternate between a first operating state where the first volume is in fluid communication with the annulus and a second operating state where the first volume is in fluid communication with the tubular conduit, to alternate a direction of differential pressure between the first volume and the second volume and cause the magnetic shuttle to move in a reciprocating motion and generate an electric current.

Power generation using pressure differential between a tubular and a borehole annulus

An apparatus for generating electrical power includes at least one power generation assembly having a housing including a fluid chamber, one or more conductive coils surrounding the fluid chamber, a reciprocating magnetic shuttle dividing the fluid chamber into a first volume and a second volume. The apparatus also includes at least one switching assembly configured to alternate between a first operating state where the first volume is in fluid communication with a first fluid pressure source, and a second operating state where the first volume is in fluid communication with a second fluid pressure source. The switching assembly is configured to alternate between the first operating state and the second operating state to alternate a direction of differential pressure between the first volume and the second volume and cause the magnetic shuttle to move in a reciprocating motion and generate an electric current in the one or more conductive coils.
