Disclosed are thermal management fluids for electric systems and methods of application. An example thermal management fluid may comprise: a base oil as a major component, wherein the base oil has both of the following enumerated properties: (i) a branch content of about 15 mol. % to about 30 mol. %; and (ii) a naphthene content of about 30 wt. % or less.

High thermal conductivity hydrocarbon thermal management fluids for electric vehicles

A hydrocarbon fluid is disclosed that has a pour point of at most &#x2212;30&#xb0; C., as measured by ASTM D5950, and that comprises at least 99 wt % of naphthenes and paraffins, based on the total weight of the hydrocarbon fluid, wherein the weight ratio of naphthenes to paraffins is at least 1, as measured by GC-MS, and wherein the paraffins consist essentially of isoparaffins, as determined by GC-FID. In addition, preferred uses of said hydrocarbon fluid are disclosed.

Hydrocarbon fluids and uses thereof

Compositions can include mixtures having from about 2 wt % to about 40 wt % of C-Clinear paraffins based on the weight of the mixture, from about 60 wt % to about 98 wt % of C-Cbranched saturated hydrocarbons based on the weight of the mixture, and less than or equal to about 30 wt % of Csaturated hydrocarbons based on the weight of the mixture. Methods to obtain these compositions can include the isomerization of one or more C-Calpha olefins under skeletal isomerization conditions to obtain an isomerization mixture and the hydrotreating of the isomerization mixture.
