A method and device for detection of drowsiness of a person, based on a relationship between distal temperature and heart rate and on a balance between body heat loss and body heat production, wherein the distal temperature in a predetermined distal region of the person is monitored as a measure for body heat loss, and the heart rate of the person is monitored as a measure for body heat production, wherein drowsiness in the immediate future is concluded when a change of distal temperature passes a first threshold and, subsequently, a change of the heart rate passes a second threshold or, subsequently, the change of the distal temperature is larger than the change of the heart rate.

Method and device for accurate real-time detection of drowsiness in operators using physiological responses

We here describe an exercise system and control method thereof to obtain exercise protocols relating to the individual user's optimal exercise intensity. The system and method comprise the monitoring of the transition between the aerobic and anaerobic training zones and an estimate of the maximal lactate steady state, which is an important physiological indicator of the user's cardio respiratory fitness. Together with individual models of how the user's heart rate responds to exercise intensity, it is possible to predict the needed exercise intensity that should be performed to obtain the wanted exercise goal. The analysis can (preferably) be performed in real-time during exercise.

Method and device for monitoring stress of an individual in a moving structure by estimating and monitoring a mental component of a total heart rate of the individual, wherein the total heart rate comprises the mental component, a mechanical component, a component relating to heat balance and a component relating to basic metabolic functions, wherein the total heart rate and movements of the individual and the moving structure are measured in real-time, wherein the mechanical component is estimated in real-time based on the real-time movement of the individual and the moving structure, wherein the mental component is obtained by subtracting the mechanical component, the component relating to the heat balance and the component relating to basic metabolic functions from the total heart rate.

Stress monitoring for individuals in moving structures

The present invention relates to methods and systems for monitoring and controlling the status of humans or animals, in particular relating to both the physical and the arousal status of an individual human or animal. These methods and systems rely on a dynamic and adaptive data-based on-line modelling technique wherein information on bioprocess inputs and outputs is measured in real-time and the model predicts an output based on the bioprocess input. The provided methods are particularly useful to monitor and/or control processes in which performance is important.

Real-time monitoring and control of physical and arousal status of individual organisms

The present invention relates to a system and method for monitoring in real time the nutriment intake (feed and/or water) of farm animals, including but not limited to poultry, turkeys, pigs and cows, based on the measurement and identification of the nutriment uptake sounds and/or the working of the nutriment supply system, while the presence and eating position of the animals is monitored by using real-time image analysis.

Apparatus and method for processing bioresponse signals, in particular apparatus and method for hatching out hatching eggs

Present invention is a system of blood glucose monitoring and intensive insulin therapy in a ICU for strict maintenance of normoglycemia which reduces intensive care and hospital mortality and morbidity of critically ill adult patients. The findings of present study also reveal factors determining insulin doses needed to maintain normoglycemia as well as the impact of insulin dose versus blood glucose level on the observed outcome benefits have been established. The invention provides a control system that adapts the flow of the insulin infusion based on insulin requirement calculated by blood glucose levels and clinical parameters such as history of diabetes, Body Mass Index, blood glucose level on admission, reason of ICU admission, time in the ICU, type and severity of illness, caloric intake, obesity, drugs affecting insulin sensitivity). This automated insulin monitoring systems significantly reduces the workload and human resource management problems for intensive insulin therapy in patients in the ICU.
