An intervertebral implant having an upper and a lower closing plate designed to engage the vertebral end plates. The implant has a deformable body between the closing plates. Between the deformable body and closing plates are cover plates. A plurality of fiber windings run between the cover plates to hold together the cover plates and the deformable body.

Intervertebral implant with moveable endcaps

An intervertebral implant including: a central axis, upper and lower terminal parts and a convex joint element. Each of the terminal parts come to rest against the end surfaces of two adjacent vertebras and opposite first and second concave inner surfaces, respectively. The convex joint element is situated between the terminal parts and rests in a sliding manner against the first and second concave inner surfaces of the two terminal parts. The, first concave surface is a partial surface of a first rotationally symmetrical external surface about the axis of rotation transverse to the central axis. The second concave inner surface of a second rotationally symmetrical conical external surface about the axis of rotation transverse to the central axis.

Intervertebral implant comprising a three-part articulation

Disclosed is an intervertebral implant () comprising a central axis (), a bottom cover plate () and a top cover plate (), which are respectively provided with an exterior surface () that extends transversal to the central axis (), and a central part (). Said central part () is located between the cover plates () and is provided with a sleeve () encompassing a fiber system () that is connected to the cover plates () and is embedded in an enveloping body () made of a homogeneous material. In analogy with the anatomic structure of the natural disk, the inventive intervertebral implant () can transfer occurring compressive forces onto the cover plates () thereof as tensile forces that are applied to the individual fibers of the fiber system () thereof.
