An evacuation system may comprise an evacuation slide configured to be deployed from an aircraft, first strap coupled to the evacuation slide, a second strap coupled to the evacuation slide, and a releasable restraint extending through the first strap and the second strap, the releasable restraint comprising a first stem connected to a first bead and a second stem connected to a second bead, where a diameter of the second stem is different from a diameter of the first stem.

Light weight variable force restraint

A restraint arrangement for an inflatable slide may comprise a releasable restraint and a yoke coupled to the releasable restraint. The yoke may comprise a first strap and a second strap. A first dampener may be coupled to the first strap. A second dampener may be coupled to the second strap. The first dampener and the second dampener may deform in response to a tensile load.

An evacuation system may comprise a first plurality of tubes configured to inflate by an aspirator and pressure cylinder upon deployment from an aircraft. The evacuation system may further comprise a second plurality of tubes coupled to the first plurality of tubes. The second plurality of tubes may be configured to be in deflated state when the evacuation system is in a slide configuration. The second plurality of tubes may be configured to be in an inflated state when the evacuation system is in a raft configuration.

Multi-phased evacuation system

A restraint may include a longitudinal body having a first end and a second end. The restraint may also include a plurality of engagement features distributed between the first end and the second end. A dimension of at least one of the longitudinal body and the plurality of engagement features may vary along at least a portion of a length of the longitudinal body. The restraint may further include a head disposed at the first end of the longitudinal body. The head may define an aperture and may include a pawl that configured to individually engage the plurality of engagement features. The dimension may vary incrementally or continuously along at least the portion of the length of the longitudinal body from the first end to the second end.

Evacuation slide restraint

An aspirator for an inflatable assembly may comprise a housing and an inlet flap biased away from an interior of the housing. A pressure relief flap may be biased toward the interior of the housing. A manifold may be located in the interior of the housing and configured to output a primary gas flow toward an outlet of the housing. A nozzle may be fluidly coupled to the manifold. The nozzle may be configured to output the primary gas flow to the manifold.

An aspirator may comprise an aspirator body defining an air channel. An aspirator barrel may have a first aspirator barrel segment coupled to the aspirator body and may have a second aspirator barrel segment. The second aspirator barrel segment configured to fit at least partially within the first aspirator barrel segment when the aspirator barrel is in a stowed state and configured to interlock with the first aspirator barrel segment in an extended position when the aspirator barrel is in a deployed state.

An evacuation system may comprise an evacuation slide configured to be deployed from an aircraft, a first strap coupled to the evacuation slide, a second strap coupled to the evacuation slide, and a releasable restraint extending through the first strap and the second strap. The releasable restraint may comprise a first stem connected to a first bead and a second stem connected to a second bead, wherein a diameter of the second stem may be different from a diameter of the first stem.

A secondary release arrangement for a releasable restraint may comprise a flexible member in operable communication with a strap attached to the releasable restraint configured to release the strap from the releasable restraint in response to a tensile force in the flexible member exceeding a selected threshold. In various embodiments, the secondary release arrangement may be configured to allow deployment of an evacuation system in the event of the releasable restraint failing to release.

Secondary release arrangement for evacuation slide systems

An aspirator includes an aspirator body having at least one flapper door designed to allow intake of a gas from an environment of the aspirator. The aspirator also includes an aspirator barrel having an end tip, a compressible spring, and a fabric positioned about the compressible spring, and designed to extend in response to receiving the gas and to transfer the gas from the aspirator body to the inflatable flotation device. The aspirator also includes a gas valve designed to receive a fluid from a compressed fluid source. The aspirator also includes a nozzle positioned within the aspirator body, coupled to the gas valve, and designed to receive the fluid via the gas valve and to direct at least a portion of the fluid towards the aspirator barrel such that the at least one flapper door allows the gas to flow from the environment into the aspirator barrel.

An aspirator may comprise an aspirator body defining an air channel and an inlet. A flow straightener may be disposed at the inlet. The flow straightener may be configured to produce a laminar flow through the air channel. An aspirator barrel may be coupled to the aspirator body and may define an outlet. A static airfoil assembly may be disposed at the outlet. The static airfoil assembly may be configured to produce a vortex flow exiting the aspirator barrel.

Aspirator

An evacuation slide assembly for an aircraft may comprise a main body configured to extend from a sill of the aircraft toward a surface within a range of angles relative to vertical when deployed so as to allow persons to safely slide down the main body to the surface. The main body may include a head end configured to attached to the sill of the aircraft, and a toe end opposite the head end. A first extendable portion may be coupled to the head end of the main body and may be in operable communication with a height sensor. The first extendable portion may be configured to deploy to adjust for a variation in a positional relationship between the surface and the sill to maintain the main body within the range of angles.

A releasable restraint for an evacuation system may comprise a first female fastener, a second female fastener, and a center member coupled between the first female fastener and the second female fastener, wherein the center member is configured to separate in response to a predetermined tensile force. The releasable restraint may further comprise a first tape extending from the first female fastener and a second tape extending from the second female fastener.

Light weight restraint for evacuation slide systems

A life raft may include a base having a first side and a second side. The life raft may also include a first canopy coupled to the first side of the base and configured to extend across the first side of the base to form a first chamber defined between the first side of the base and the first canopy. The life raft may further include a second canopy coupled to the second side of the base and configured to extend across the second side of the base to form a second chamber defined between the second side of the base and the second canopy. At least one of the first canopy and the second canopy may define a first plurality of fill ports. The at least one of the first canopy and the second canopy is a bottom canopy configured to extend below the life raft.
