A source computational instance may be configured to operate a software application and store a first set of content related to the software application. A target computational instance may be configured to operate the software application and store a second set of content related to the software application. The software application operated by the target computational instance may apply transformation rules to received content before storing the received content in the second set of content. The source computational instance may be further configured to receive selected content chosen from the first set of content and an indication of the target computational instance, and transmit the selected content to the target computational instance. The target computational instance may be further configured to receive the selected content, apply the transformation rules to the selected content, and store the selected content within the second set of content.

Synchronization between computational instances of a remote network management platform

A computing system includes a database and a discovery application. The discovery application obtains credentials for accessing a server hosting a software bus application which connects a plurality of applications within a managed network. The discovery application selects, based on a pattern corresponding to the software bus application, one or more files to access, transmits, to the server, instructions to access the one or more files, and receives therefrom data identifying a plurality of attributes of the software bus application. Based on this data, the discovery application transmits, to the server, instructions to identify communicative connections established between the plurality of software applications by way of the software bus application and receives therefrom data identifying the communicative connections. Based on (i) the plurality of attributes and (ii) the communicative connections, the discovery application generates a mapping that represents the communicative connections and stores the mapping in the database.

Discovery of software bus architectures

A computing system includes a discovery application that identifies a computing device associated with a managed network. The application determines a first command that causes the computing device to invoke a function that provides as output attributes of the computing device. The command includes a parameter that suppresses any textual error messages that the function places in the output. The application also determines a second command that causes the computing device to provide a numerical exit status of the function. The application causes the computing device to execute the first and second commands, and obtains the output and the numerical exit status. Based on the numerical exit status, the application determines that the function did not fully obtain the attributes of the computing device and, in response, (i) modifies the first command, and (ii) causes the computing device to execute the first command as modified and the second command.

Enhancing discovery patterns with shell command exit status

An example system includes persistent storage and a discovery application configured to perform operations including obtaining a uniform resource locator (URL) that addresses a function of an application programming interface (API) provided by a remote computing system of remote computing systems that provide computing resources. The function returns attributes of computing resources specified by the URL. The operations additionally include generating (i) a system-specific portion of a request that invokes execution of the function and (ii) a system-invariant portion of the request. The system-specific portion adheres to first rules adopted by the remote computing system for interacting with the API. The system-invariant portion adheres to second rules adopted by each of the remote computing systems for interacting with respective APIs thereof. The operations yet further include transmitting the request to the remote computing system, receiving therefrom a response containing the attributes, and storing, in the persistent storage, the attributes.

Interface for supporting integration with cloud-based service providers

A computing system includes persistent storage and a discovery application configured to perform operations including obtaining, from a remote computing system, first attributes of a first computing resource, which indicate a first unique resource identifier associated with an authentication system provided by the remote computing system and utilized by the first computing resource. The operations also include obtaining, from the remote computing system, second attributes of the authentication system, which indicate a second unique resource identifier used by the authentication system. The operations additionally include determining that the first unique resource identifier matches the second unique resource identifier and, based on this determination, generating a mapping between the first computing resource and the authentication system to indicate that access to the first computing resource is controlled by the authentication system. The operations further include storing, in the persistent storage, the mapping as one or more configuration items.

Discovery and mapping of a cloud-based authentication, authorization, and user management service

A new alert associated with a computer information technology item is received. The new alert is evaluated, including by determining application fingerprints of applications executing on a server associated with the new alert. Matching previous alerts similar to the new alert are identified, including by comparing the application fingerprints of the server associated with the new alert with corresponding application fingerprints of servers associated with previous alerts. The matching previous alerts are sorted based at least in part on the comparison of the application fingerprints.

A computing system is disposed within a computational instance of a remote network management platform associated with a managed network. The computing system (i) performs a discovery process that identifies attributes of computing devices and software applications disposed within the managed network; (ii) generates a list of keywords based on the identified attributes as stored, including a particular keyword associated with a first computing device or a first software application of those disposed within the managed network; (iii) searches for the particular keyword in one or more files from the managed network; (iv) determines that the particular keyword is included in a file associated with a second computing device or a second software application of those disposed within the managed network; and (v) defines an operational mapping between: (a) the first computing device or the first software application and (b) the second computing device or the second software application.

A computing system includes a persistent storage configured to store, as one or more configuration items and on behalf of a managed network, a table of resources provided by a remote computing system to the managed network. The computing system includes a discovery application configured to perform operations. The operations include querying a resource manager application programming interface (API) to identify resources within the remote computing system. The remote computing system is configured to generate a resource inventory file and store the resource inventory file within a storage bucket in response to the query. The resource inventory file contains a list of resources and attributes. The operations also include polling the storage bucket to determine when the resource inventory file has been fully written. In addition, the operations include parsing the resource inventory file to generate representations of the resources. Further, the operations include storing the representations in the table.

Discovery of cloud-based infrastructure and resources

An example embodiment relates to discovering computing devices in a managed network that are involved in blockchain-based mining. The example embodiment may involve a proxy server application that is disposed within the managed network, controlled by a remote network management platform, and configured to: provide, to a computing device disposed within the managed network, one or more instructions to identify one or more applications executing on the computing device; determine, for an application of the one or more applications that were identified, a command string used to invoke the application to execute on the computing device; compare the command string to a plurality of identifiers indicative of blockchain-based mining; determine that the command string includes an identifier from the plurality of identifiers indicative of blockchain-based mining; and based on determining that the command string includes the identifier, store, in a database, an indication that the application is associated with blockchain-based mining.

Identifying computing devices in a managed network that are involved in blockchain-based mining

A system may contain a computational instance including persistent storage that maintains a discovery pattern and credentials for a cloud-based service, where the cloud-based service provides a remote computing infrastructure. The system may also contain one or more processors configured to: remotely access, using the credentials, the cloud-based service; execute the discovery pattern to obtain copies of tags configured in the cloud-based service, where the tags each include key fields, value fields, and resource identifier fields, and where the resource identifier fields uniquely specify respective computational resources of the cloud-based service; associate the tags that were discovered to configuration item representations of the respective computational resources; and store, in the persistent storage, the tags and their associations to the configuration item representations.

An example system includes a database disposed within a remote network management platform that manages a managed network, where one or more worker nodes are configured to execute containerized software applications on behalf of the managed network. The system also includes a computing device configured to request and receive configuration data identifying the applications; access traffic data generated by packet detection modules disposed amongst the one or more worker nodes and configured to (i) monitor network traffic between the applications and (ii) generate and store the traffic data which is indicative of the monitored network traffic; parse the traffic data for one or more patterns indicative of communicative relationships between the applications; based on the one or more patterns being present in the traffic data, generate mappings between the applications that have communicative relationships therebetween; and store, in the database, the configuration data and the mappings.

Discovery and mapping of containerized software applications

A system includes a configuration management database (CMDB). Application programming interface (API) proxies associated with a managed network provide access to resources. The system also includes a discovery application configured to perform operations including determining a proxy uniform resource locator (URL) used to provide access to a particular resource of the resources through an API proxy of the API proxies and obtaining, from a computing device associated with the API proxy, an assignment of proxy URLs to corresponding target URLs by the API proxy. Each target URL of the corresponding target URLs address a respective resource of the resources. The proxy URLs are used to provide access to the resources through the API proxy. The operations also include selecting, from the assignment, a target URL assigned to the proxy URL, generating a mapping between the proxy URL and the target URL, and storing the mapping in the CMDB.

Discovery and service mapping of application programming interface proxies

A system includes persistent storage configured to store, a mapping of computing resources provided by a remote computing system to a managed network. The system also includes an application that obtains instructions to modify a computing resource provided by the remote computing system and, based on the instructions, generates and transmits, to the remote computing system, a request to modify the computing resource. The application receives, from the remote computing system, a response indicating a modification to the computing resource and selects a discovery pattern configured to verify the modification by obtaining attributes associated therewith. The application obtains, from the remote computing system, the attributes by executing the discovery pattern and determines, based on the attributes, that the modification has been completed according to the instructions. Based on this determination, the application updates the mapping to indicate the modification and stores, in the persistent storage, the mapping as updated.

Discovery and mapping of cloud-based resource modifications

A system may include a database, where a managed network includes a computing cluster that provides networking, storage, and virtualization services distributed across a plurality of computing devices, where each computing device can execute one or more respective software applications and comprises: (i) a respective controller, and (ii) a respective storage device, and where the storage devices of the plurality of computing devices collectively form a storage pool. The system may also include a proxy server application configured to: request and receive computing cluster data that identifies the computing cluster; request and receive storage pool data that identifies the storage pool; request and receive storage container data that identifies storage containers of the storage pool; request and receive controller data that identifies the controllers of the plurality computing devices; and provide, to the database, the computing cluster data, the storage pool data, the storage container data, and the controller data.
