Disclosed is a method for evaluating computational fluid dynamic simulation results. The method includes: performing at least two baseline runs of a simulated area or volume containing a first vehicle body shape using a set of initial conditions, performing a change run using a second vehicle body using the set of initial conditions, creating a noise map based on differences between the second baseline run and the first baseline run, creating a change map based on differences between the change run and a selected baseline run, and comparing the change map to the noise map.

Method for quantifying visual differences in automotive aerodynamic simulations

A vehicle heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system having a variable compressor can reduce a load applied to a vehicle powertrain during certain conditions. Systems and methods can determine if a power state of an HVAC system is activated, and whether an engine water temperature meets a forced HVAC recirculation intake threshold. Responsive to determining that the engine water temperature meets the forced HVAC recirculation intake threshold, a recirculation mode air source can be selected for the HVAC system. Responsive to the recirculation mode air source being selected, determining if at least one measured vehicle condition meets predetermined criteria. Responsive to determining that the at least one measured vehicle condition meets the predetermined criteria, the variable compressor can be operated according to a reduced duty map.

Variable compressor control for vehicle air conditioning

A front grille assembly for a vehicle includes a grille deflector that allows air to flow therethrough into an engine compartment of the vehicle. A grille frame supports the grille deflector at a front of the vehicle. An air flow director fin is located on the grille frame and rearward of the grille deflector. The air flow director fin modifies a flow direction of air entering the engine compartment from an unmodified flow direction without the air flow director fin to a modified flow direction toward a region of a transmission cooler of the vehicle.
