Disclosed here is a system and method to obtain a layer selection message from a wireless telecommunication network providing a wireless connection to a UE. The layer selection message includes a contour including an indication of a region served by a cell, an indication of a generation of wireless technology provided by the cell, a radio frequency band provided by the cell, and an indication of how to select the cell. The system can obtain a geographical location of the UE and a wireless capability of the UE. Based on the geographical location of the UE, the wireless capability of the UE, and the layer selection message, the system can determine a cell to which to connect the UE.

Determining a cell to which to connect user equipment

The disclosed system and method obtain a report of an issue reported by a user of the wireless telecommunication network, and historical information associated with the user and the wireless telecommunication network. The historical information includes multiple issues reported by users similar to the user, and multiple user statuses associated with the users similar to the user. The user status among the multiple user statuses includes active and inactive, indicating whether the user is an active member of the telecommunication network or has left the network. The system provides the historical information to an AI model, and obtains from the AI model a priority associated with the issue experienced by the user. The system causes a resolution of the issue based on the priority.

Prioritizing an issue reported by a user of a wireless telecommunication network

A method and system for detecting one or more living beings in a vehicle. An indication that the engine is off is received via on on-board diagnostics (OBD) device. Whether a first living being is in the front seat area is determined, and whether a second living being is in the back seat area is determined. In response to a determination that a first living being is not in the front seat area and a second living being is in the back seat area, a first temperature reading for a first temperature inside the vehicle is received and a second temperature reading for a second temperature outside the vehicle is received. A delta between the first temperature and the second temperature is computed. If the delta is less than a first threshold, then an alert is sent via the OBD device to a computing device associated with a user.

Back seat detection systems and methods

An alert message may be sent to a limited radius of electronic device users by an authorized user. The authorized user may use a smartphone application or may simply use a standard SMS messaging capability of the 'electronic device to enter a request that includes at least a radius and message text. A base station or other processing entity may evaluate the authenticity of the request based on known caller ID information, receipt of a user identifier and/or authorization code. When the message is qualified as genuine, a requested radius for broadcasting the message may be used to determine what cell sites need to be included in the message broadcast to reach electronic devices in the requested radius.

Mobile-initiated SMS cell broadcast

A core network for a cellular system may maintain a dataset of one or more cell sites as being in an emergency zone. The dataset may be populated by local network operators in or near the emergency zone. The core network may consult the dataset prior to enforcing contractual terms for data rate throttling or re-prioritization to determine if the subscriber is in a designated emergency zone. If so, the core network may suspend the enforcement of data throttling or lowering priority so that subscribers in the emergency zone receive full access to the communication network. The dataset may include an expiration time or be on a timer so that the local network operators may be required to re-enroll the one or more cell sites as being in an emergency zone.

Non-throttling on emergency cell sites in cellular systems

In cell-based wireless network systems supporting subscriber device communication, any movement of a cell's antenna may interrupt service. As cell sizes decrease and transmission frequencies increase, especially with 5G systems, cell transceivers that were once tower or building based are being mounted on smaller structures including the strand of a wired network infrastructure. However, smaller structures may be subject to movement due to weather, nearby traffic, surf, or other conditions. A cell apparatus, particularly one mounted on a structure subject to movement may include a motion detector to report motion of the cell apparatus. A wired or wireless network channel apart from the wireless network system may be used to transport movement data to a network service center or performance analysis server.

Small-cell movement detection

A technique of selecting a location area for paging of a mobile device in the wireless communication network is described herein. The technique includes registering the mobile device with a first cell within the wireless communication network, where the cell is included within a primary location area and one or more secondary location areas. The technique also includes determining a default location area index for the mobile device, where the default location area index identifies a default location area for the mobile device. The technique further includes receiving an indication from the mobile device to change from the default location area index to a secondary location area index. The secondary location area index identifies a secondary location that at least includes a sub-portion of the primary location area.

Mobile device assisted selection of paging location area in a wireless communication network

A mobile phone or other mobile device is configured to compute a location code based on Wi-Fi or other wireless networking configuration parameters. The location code is computed as a cryptographic hash of the configuration parameters and is provided to a telecommunications system that supports Wi-Fi or other WLAN voice services. The telecommunications system maintains one or more location tables, each of which indicates multiple location codes and corresponding street addresses. When processing an emergency 9-1-1 call to an emergency response service, the system looks up the street address of the calling mobile device based on the most recently provided location code, and provides the street address to the emergency response service.

Determining device locations for emergency service calls

In a cellular telecommunication system having multiple cells and respectively associated base stations, a user equipment (UE) is paged by sending a paging request to the base station that most recently communicated with the UE. This base station pages the UE and upon failing to receive a response forwards the paging request to its the base stations of neighboring cells Each of these base stations pages the UE and upon failing to receive a response similarly forwards the paging request to further base stations of neighboring cells. This process is repeated to repeatedly expand the paging area until the UE is located or until a forwarding limit has been reached.
