Systems for authenticating a file are disclosed. A system may include one or more physical devices. The one or more physical devices may select, based on an identifier, a subset of data segments of a computer file for generating a first digest with a cryptographic function. The one or more physical devices may also execute the cryptographic function on the selected subset of data segments of the computer file to generate the first digest. Further, the one or more physical devices may generate an authenticator based on the first digest and a private key. The one or more physical devices may further send the computer file, the identifier, and the authenticator to a secure node. Associated methods and non-transitory machine-readable medium are also disclosed.

Authentication of files

An apparatus may include a processor. The apparatus may include a memory communicatively coupled to the processor. The apparatus may include a memory control circuit (MCC). The MCC may be configured to define a protected portion of the memory, wherein the protected portion of the memory is configured for read-only access by the processor, increase a size of the protected portion of the memory, and, after the increase in size of the protected portion of the memory, prevent decreases of the size of the protected portion of the memory.

Methods of authenticating a file are disclosed. A method may include selecting, via an identifier, a subset of data segments of a file. The method may also include executing, via a microcontroller, a cryptographic function on only the subset of data segments of the file to generate a digest. Further, the method may include generating, via the microcontroller, an authenticator based on the digest and a private key. The method may also include conveying the file, the identifier, and the authenticator to a cryptography element. In addition, the method may include executing, via the cryptography element, the cryptographic function on the subset of data segments of the file to generate a second digest. Furthermore, the method may include authenticating, via the cryptography element, the file via verification of the authenticator based on the second digest and a public key of the microcontroller.

In certain embodiments, an apparatus includes a sensing element having a capacitance to a first reference voltage. The capacitance is variable as a function of a proximity of an object to the sensing element. The apparatus further includes a sample capacitor connected to the sensing element and control circuitry connected to the sample capacitor. The control circuitry is configured to supply a charge to the sample capacitor and the sensing element and discharge the sensing element. The control circuitry is further configured to provide, in response to the discharge of the sensing element, a signal indicative of the capacitance to the first reference voltage of the sensing element. The control circuitry is further configured to process the signal to detect a change in the capacitance to the first reference voltage as indicative of the proximity of the object to the sensing element.

Proximity detection

In certain embodiments, a proximity sensor includes a sensing element, an oscillator connected to the sensing element, and control circuitry connected to the oscillator. The sensing element has a capacitance to ground that is variable as a function of the proximity of an object to the sensing element. The oscillator includes a capacitor. The control circuitry is configured to supply an excitation to the oscillator and a charge to the sensing element, and to measure the resonant frequency of the oscillator. The control circuitry provides a signal indicative of the proximity of the object to the sensing element.

For proximity detection, capacitance of a sensing element to ground is measured as one or more objects move into or out of proximity to the sensing element.
