Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that a cell is associated with a deployment mode based on a condition being satisfied, where the deployment mode may be associated with serving one or more UEs travelling at high speeds. The UE may select from one of a frequency-based initial cell selection or a cell-based initial cell selection and may measure one or more frequencies of one or more cells including the cell to obtain a set of measured parameters, each cell corresponding to a respective deployment mode and a respective measured parameter. The UE may select a candidate cell from the one or more cells based on the respective measured parameters of each cell and the respective deployment modes of each cell and may establish a connection with the candidate cell based on the selecting.

Techniques for biasing cell camping in high-speed user equipment deployment

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling for communications in a wireless communications system. The control signaling may indicate a first duration for an inactivity timer. The UE may initiate the inactivity timer and a second timer based on identifying a period of inactivity. The second timer may have a second duration that is shorter than the first duration for the inactivity timer. In some examples, the second duration may be based on one or more parameters, such as a display status, a battery status, a scaling factor, the first duration, an application state, or any combination thereof. The UE may release a connection for the communications in the wireless communications system based on an expiration of the second timer, an expiration of the inactivity timer, or a combination thereof.

Enhanced connection release techniques for wireless communications systems

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a UE capability message associated with a number of downlink multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) layers supported at the UE. The UE may receive a configuration for a set of downlink MIMO layers including a first subset of downlink MIMO layers configured for a first cell and a second subset of downlink MIMO layers configured for a second cell. The UE may allocate a first set of resources to the first cell or the second cell, or both, based on the first and the second subset of downlink MIMO layers. The UE may determine a second set of resources are unallocated to the set of downlink MIMO layers and allocate the second set of resources to the first cell or the second cell, or both.

Techniques to allocate receive resources

A user equipment (UE) may be in a standalone (SA) mode and start a timer associated with barring a first cell, based on a system information block type(SIB) decode timeout failure. The UE may receive, from a base station, a first redirection instruction to connect to the first cell in a non-standalone (NSA) mode. The UE in the NSA mode may determine that the measurement for the first cell is greater than a threshold value, and receive, from the base station a second redirection instruction to switch to the SA mode on the first cell. The UE may pause the timer and perform an initial acquisition procedure on the first cell.

Connection management on SIB1 based barred cell

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit assistance information to a base station to request an update or a modification to one or more communication parameters configured at the UE. Such communication parameters may include a quantity of uplink multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layers, a quantity of downlink MIMO layers, a minimum scheduling offset, a maximum quantity of component carriers, or a maximum aggregated bandwidth for a secondary cell group (SCG). In some implementations, the UE may transmit the assistance information requesting the update or modification to one or more of such communication parameters based on detecting that the UE satisfies one or more triggering conditions or thresholds.

Techniques for providing assistance information for reduced MIMO layers

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may measure a parameter associated with a secondary cell group. The UE may perform an optimization response action for a dual connectivity mode of a first frequency parameter or a second frequency parameter when the parameter satisfies a threshold, wherein the optimization response action is associated with whether the secondary cell group is operating with the first frequency parameter or the second frequency parameter. Numerous other aspects are described.

Techniques for dual connectivity mode optimization

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A system may support techniques for triggering user equipment (UE) assistance information (UAI) based on mobility, wake up signal (WUS) configuration, or both. In some cases, a UE may communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station) on a first channel according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The UE may determine that a speed of the UE satisfies a mobility threshold and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the speed of the UE satisfying the mobility threshold. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may receive signaling configuring the UE to monitor for WUSs and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the WUS configuration. The UE may receive control signaling configuring the DRX configuration with the one or more requested parameters in response to the UAI.

Triggering user equipment (UE) assistance information based on mobility and wake up signal (WUS) configuration

Various aspects relate to acquisition of system information (SI). In some examples, a UE uses a guard timer to control how long the UE attempts to acquire a particular type of SI. In some examples, a UE that has entered a cell may determine whether there are any remaining paging occasions (e.g., that may indicate an SI update) during a period of time. If there is an insufficient number of paging occasions remaining (e.g., zero or one), the UE may monitor for broadcast SI. In some examples, after sending a request for SI to a base station, a UE may also periodically monitor for SI broadcast by the base station (e.g., to avoid potential delays in obtaining the SI). In some examples, if a UE does not acquire SI, the UE may use default SIB information (e.g., that expedites reselection to another cell).

Acquisition of system information

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may perform measurements on a plurality of cells. The UE may order the plurality of cells based at least in part on multiple factors including at least a cell selection condition, the cell selection condition indicating a threshold for the measurement for cell selection. The UE may select, based at least in part on the ordering, a cell from the plurality of cells. The UE may camp on the selected cell. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Cell selection using multiple factors

A delta configuration is signaled for handover of a wireless communication device (e.g., a user equipment, UE) from a first form of connectivity to a second form of connectivity. For example, a UE with master cell group (MCG) connectivity may be handed-over to multiple radio access technology-dual connectivity (MR-DC). In some examples, a UE with standalone (SA) connectivity may be handed-over to non-standalone (NSA) connectivity (e.g., dual connectivity). In conjunction with this handover the UE may be signaled as to whether the UE is to reuse a configuration from the first connectivity mode during the second connectivity mode.

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products for DRX adjustment are provided. An example method includes receiving, from a base station, a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration for the UE based on one or more DRX preferences. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may communicate via a first connection using one or more transmit parameters. The UE may determine one or more parameters for suspension of the subsequent attempts to communicate via the second connection based at least in part on a determination that satisfaction of the threshold number of failed attempts is associated with one or more exposure conditions that are based at least in part on the one or more transmit parameters. For example, an example method by a UE generally includes detecting one or more conditions associated with at least one metric related to UE power consumption; and transmitting UAI to a network entity, in response to the detection, to request a reconfiguration of the UE to operate according to a set of one or more parameters selected based on a value of the at least one metric.
